she became a lot more vulnerable imo. you just have to pick the right counter pick and be more coordinated with your team. yeah, she’s a pain in the ass in the early game but after that she is nothing but a dummy for beating. every game i played against her were an easy win for me.

Medusa has an absurd winrate AND pickrate this patch, implying it isn't only the people that know the ins and outs of her character picking her, or her only being picked in "just the right" sitiations, boosting her stats. She has a winrate of 55% at the LOW END, while the high end sees her at over 60%, and I believe pro tournaments saw her somewhere even higher.

Medusa is definitely overtuned, and you can't counterpick her if she picks in the last phase, or it is much more unlikely if she is picked in the 2nd to last phase.

She is more vulnerable is the EXTREMELY early stages yes, but she will make it out of that stage rather quickly, and after that even if you ahave been keeping her down the tiniest slip up will see her flash farm a lane or the jungle and recover.

Medusa is OP right now but I see Riki much more often, and I think he's more annoying.

Step 1: Always ban Med during pick
Step 2: If step one doesn't work then use a hero to counter like PL or Windranger using Diffusal blade.

funnily enough pl is actually countered by medusa (only very slightly admittedly) according to dotabuff this patch.

Its something like he loses an extra 0.5% of the time more than he should on average.

I think PL will need to get fed pretty quick but if he can get the levels, attack speed and that Diffusal blade fast enough then Med will have issues.
Med is really dependant on that shield being up so being able to burn her mana fast enough is key.

I guess I should have mentioned AM as well

Sounds like there's something fundamentally wrong with the pick rate system in general.
But oh, wait! Whoopsie! This has been a problem forever. Skill means ♥♥♥♥ all. Matches are usually decided at draft, not from actual gameplay.

Dude read the mana, if i'm reading it right it's every 4 damage to 1 mana tick, unless it's the opposite but i'll drop sky wrath mages ultimate on her and her mana never drains.

this is why you need heroes with mana drain or to let your carry have manta + diffusal combo. adapt. yeah, she is tanky, but she has like no damage if she and her farm is controlled.

No. there are plenty of heroes that a just well rounded team is going to be capable of countering even if they are last picked via items or just general capability and therefore not NEEDING a direct attempted to be countered via draft itself.

Got an enemy illusion user? Most teams have some form of AoE, and many will have a melee core that can go Battlefury if needed, or a ranged core that can go mjoliner.

Got an enemy that can evade? Most teams can just have their core buy an mkb or mjoliner, or they have enough spell damage anyway.

Got an invis enemy? Detection is plenty in this game, though I do admit to wanting a dedicated extra slot for it.

Medusa on the other hand has pretty well won if you haven't picked AM, Nyx, or Darkseer, as Diffusal doesn't do enough to actually matter to her, and she still has a 60% winrate even with that item picked against her.

Yes I said counterpick instead of counter in the end there, but it should have been a pretty obvious thing to realize if that is what you were going for.
