Dota 2
Is Dota worth getting into in 2023?
Before you warn me, I completely understand how toxic MOBA games are. I played League for a few years now and I still do from time to time. I also have a little experience with HotS when that was alive and I dabbled with some other MOBAs.

I was wondering if Dota as a game itself is currently worth getting into. I tried a couple of games of Dota in my time over the years but I never really gave it a full shot. I understand the basics of how the game works due to my other MOBA experience but my god there is so much to learn in this game.

At least in comparison to a game like LoL, Dota seems far more complex and harder to get into. Things like the different turn times, more strategic fights, map interaction, itemization, etc. Dota seems like it has a much tougher learning curve than League or some other MOBA like HotS or Smite.

I think the game aesthetically looks cool though and I find it pretty interesting. I was thinking maybe it could be a breath of fresh air for me when it comes to gaming, that is if it's still worth playing of course.

The game is obviously free so I'll likely just try it anyway, but I'm still curious to hear what players are saying about the game.

Do you enjoy it? Do you hate it? Let me know, I'd appreciate it!

just play turbo.

Newest patch, along with some previous makes every role fun, and in turbo you will get to experience a full build.

Noted, I heard someone say that once. In Turbo can you select anyone or are you limited to who you can play?

You can pick everything in Turbo. Only difference is:

-Gold and XP are gathered twice as fast.
-Towers are weaker (in hp).
-TP scroll have shorter cooldown.
-You can sell items from anywhere.
-Couriers are always full speed and invulnerable.
-No need to go to secret shop to buy secret shop items.

So games are about half the time of a normal game, but heroes, map and items are all the same.

There is a something in Dota called chatwheel that lets you use your hero's voice. Honestly for me that's gold I really like the personnality of each Hero in the game.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's worth it for you if you're ready to spend several hours of gaming. After 7k hours the game still manages to suprise me. You'll go trough iconic moments that you will remember for ever both individual plays and team plays. No one game is the same really.

No. Valve don't care about game and patches break everything in game more and more.
Riot Games Policy: Protect trollers and feeders no punishment
Dota 2: Die in low prio games from reports so no so much toxicity

now is not dota any more, new patch ruined the game completly, hero are totally umbalanced now, is full of bug, and many other ♥♥♥♥, but to the other side if you never playted it before you will not feel that ♥♥♥♥, so is your choise, by the way is not complex any more like was before, , again last update make the game a complete brawl game, not a moba any more, so if you like real moba, leave it and serch something better.

you're asking that in the forum which players use only to vent, complain and hate, so expect many no's. Note how the first posts are about how they hate the new major update, how Valve doesn't care etc etc. if you ask that same question in a forum that is not used solely by (what's the word for people who like to complain and cry?) then you'll get very diferent answers

In reality there is the same amount of players (if not more) in the new patch and Valve releases bugfixing updates every week or within hours if they're gamebreaking. I also find the new map to be interesting as the previous map and meta were getting stale.

they are releasing something like 2 update every day since last big patch for fix problems...thatis not exsactly do a good work, they released the patch just because was really long time with out a major update with the tipical change position of three in the map and stuff like that, is normal people use forum for complain...is not only for that but if you ask to tecnical service about problem they say to you to use the forum for give your opinion and suggestion, so if everything was good and nice the forum was nearly useless.
many player with lot of hours don't like new update, i'm 1 of that, why we don't like it? simply, becasue is not dota any more, is avery day more similar to leangue of legend, but if i wanted to play something similar to league of legend i was not here with dota right...
so no 1 is crying here, is just the reality, new update have many problem and many player don't like it, so is normal many will say stayu away from dota at the moment.

Thing is people said exactly that 6 years ago when 7.0 came out and 3 years ago when Neutrals and outpost came out. I'm convinced if Dota was reverted to 6.86 the game would feel slow and doll and we'd get tired of it after just a few days.

The player base has remained the same. Preachers of "dota is dying" have always been wrong considering the numbers...

ended, every time they make a big update all the tipical stuff of dota get some change that make it more similar to lol or other moba, and is something not need actually, but this last update even accelerate the process x3.
