As far as I can read from your comments. I am noticing 2 things. 1, you are hurt from your loss and the changes. 2, you dont know how to build your hero to adapt. You cant play the same way everygame. You need to adapt and buy items to fit the need of the game. While certain items might be considered core. There will always be a need for a counter item.
For example Nullifier, which purges ghost scepter among other things. Also Revenants Brooch which lets you attack ethereal targets. You could also disable them before they use ghost scepter with any of 100s of skills in the game from hex to stuns. It all depends on if you are willing to change and adapt. This is coming from someone who has played since Aeon of Strife, the birth of Dota.
They certainly do, but unless a character is borderline useless, no character should ever receive an "entire gameplay identity" revamp.
It would be an obvious betrayal of players invested in their style of play.
Part of a characters definition is what they CAN'T do, and now he is added to the long list of mages who for no reason were handed a right click lategame.
It was stupid when they did it to CM, AA, SS, Lich, Lion, Techies, etc. It's even more stupid to think it makes sense to do again.
You know what would be actually interesting? Fundamentally removing his ability to autoattack and giving him some slight buffs in his casting to compensate. That would actually be new territory that specifically Zues would be happy to have, since he near exclusively last hits with his q anyways.
