Trying to play ranked only to see which rank I got. I've been playing against ancients, which is by no means an amazing rank but it's above average. NOBODY USES MIC, EVER, EVER IN ANY GAME, EVER.
and then they wonder why we lose????????? I just lost a bunch of games in a row because NOBODY communicates and got Legend 2, I could have gotten a higher rank simply by having teammates that communicate. It's really that simple. It's 2023, not 1980. Use your mic. I don't care if you have an accent, if you're a child, if you're a woman or if you have a stutter, hell, I have a sttuter myself. USE YOUR MIC. It's a TEAM game.

All the veterans used to use mics. We understood the importance of communication and teamwork. Sadly, as the years progressed. Players became more and more toxic. Mics were used to harass others. New players didnt make things any easier. With either them ignoring you when you try to teach/help them or them just yelling into the mic like children. So in 2023, no one uses mics. Something we lost and probably will never get back.

Edit: We also get punished heavily for communication...which is another reason why no one uses mics. Shoot, I barely touch my keyboard to say a thing anymore. Dota has become so restrictive and punishing.

I said I don't care if you have an ACCENT. Also all I'm asking is simple stuff. Nobody needs to be a savant to speak basic english. It's better than not saying a SINGLE word the entire game and just losing for the most stupid mistakes.

Because a mic is for communicating with your TEAM. But approx. ~95% of DotA players think the game is all about them, that they can do no wrong, that they should never need to assist they other 4 players they just happen to be sharing a map with, and that everyone else should already recognize this about them and follow them blindly.

When you have several of these people all on the same it's both tragic and comedic.

People only ever use text/voice chat to be as toxic as vile as possible to team mates so its not going to help gameplay at all.
If you have russians in your team they will just talk about blyats non stop.

Besides, most of them aren't necessarily going to use your language (I don't understand Russian nor Tagalog) so what's the point?

It's better to use In-Game pings that will translate to their language.

Depends on the MMR I suppose At 3.7k in most of the games you have at least 2-3 people who make calls. The lower you go, the worse this ratio is obviously

Because the new communication score rating things punishes people who talk. It is a terrible system. I used to be able to joke/rally/have a good time talking with people in game, and about 2 days after the communication update came out, everyone stopped talking.
