Buddy system and how to break it?
Hey, so, was reading some reviews and came across this:

"..To make matters worse, ever since Valve implemented a "buddy" score--that is, an internal rating to judge who would be friendly to new players so that they had a better experience--the vast majority of my games have me teamed up with people vastly below my skill level. By its very nature, Dota 2 is a competitive game. .... Recently, however--that is, the past two to three years--my experience in that regard has been a massive pile of flaming hot garbage. Fewer than 10% of the games I play feel genuinely challenging. The remaining 90% or so of the games I play are just steamrolls because the people on my team or the other team are just so bad, comparatively."

I've had the same experience, being generally nice to people, trying to give pointers and tips and do what I can to make my team win. So ofc I'm punished for this and get grouped with people who dont know even the very basics, are usually not very happy to recive tips.

Its not very fun to be matched with player with 15 hours when you're on your 9000th.
Not very fun for anyone, theres few players who steamroll and the noobs have a very bad experience in total. Its not really fun for the steamroller either.

So this gives me the incentive to be a total donkey towards everyone. Be rewarded for your toxicity. Will be hard change but I know we can all muster some grief and flame.

Any information on in-depth workings of the buddy system and how to break it would be appriciated! Lets fix for ourselves what valve (in its greed to have new players stick around and buy lootboxes) has broken.

As a fellow human being, and buddy dota 2 player, with over 5k+ hours in dota 2, I advise you to reduce the amount of play dota random solo games, If you respect your 9k+ hours. You should consider your self some sort of a veteran and find similar players who will you group up with and play, and maybe even consider private lobbies, mini tournaments and similar practices. Maybe you should find 4 other players and consider talking about different strategies before matches.

Sometimes players with 9k+ hours are drunk in ranked games, sometimes not well fed, and the quality of the games might go down. There is no rule nor a mental health check test before the ranked match games, so I advise you to take care when teaming up with random strangers. Some players have not slept well, in 15+hours str8 marathon, you can't expect them to preform the same all 15 hours str8 through the marathon it if they didn't took proper brakes or know how to handle that sort of gaming competitive high pressure stress related situation. So in conclusion you will encounter a lot of random happenings in dota 2 games, if you play solo q. with random strangers. Pros say, that sometimes you are strong as your weakest link in team. So my advise would be is to find like minded players, and play with them.

Cheers.
I dont play ranked, Its way too demanding on my mental health. I dont always have similiar skilled players to play with, and I do enjoy playing with randoms most of the time.

The issue here are not the players but the matchmaking system. I dont fault anyone for not knowing the game when they are new, nobodys born a blacksmith.
Wheres the fun in playing when the skill level varies to much that theres no challenge/ chance, you cant get blood from a stone.

So getting back to it, How to break buddy system so that you dont get grouped with fresh players?
