It's a type on it's own, it doesn't get reduced by armor but it doesn't hit ethereal targets so it's like a cross between pure and physical.
Also ocatrine core allows you to lifesteal from it, so go figure.

Damage
The damage is entirely based on the attacking unit's attack damage. It does not matter how much damage the attacked unit actually took as cleave only checks the damage value of the attacking unit. The damage is not reduced by the armor value, only the armor type and damage block reduce it. Cleave damage is always physical, so it never affects units in ethereal state, and always pierces spell immunity. It is also increased/decreased by damage manipulation.

strange that octarine core works, I have to confirm this myself in DEMO mode

It does work. It's one of the stranger O-core interactions but it makes sense given with how it works with other things.

cleave is blocked based on armor type,
there is light armor
heavy armor
medium armor
chaos i believe (that might be damage type)
and a few others, its reduced based on the units armor type

It's technically pure damage but it gets reduced by armor type, not by armor value.

the same strange way luna's glaives' bounces pierce spell inmunity and yes, if you have octarine core they give lifesteal too, and they are NOT specified as "magic"

Yeah but it's spell damage not magic that the O-core allows you to spellsteal so basically any damage you do that isn't directly attack damage.
