What is a good starting MMR?
I'm about to play my first ranked game. I know it'll take 10 to callibrate, but out of curiosity, what is a good level to start at?

3K seems to be ok, 3.5K being average and 4K is one of the best start. Depending on which region you're from, a minimum of 3.5K MMR is the sign of a player who knows his/her stuffs

Just stride for anything above 3K

3k is average. 2k is decent. 1k in below are nooby.

However theres nothing wrong with calibrating in the 1-2k bracket.

this, mmr is not that big of a deal really as it relies so much on everyone on your team knowing what they are doing

just do your best and eventually your mmr will reflect it, no matter where you start and if you start dropping, just try to improve in increments, no need to try and copy a pro and getting mad you cannot make their plays but rather just become good at select things

I won 9 of 10 when I first started. I was calibrated at 2800-2900.

Depends on how long you played normal. I calibrated at around 500 hours at 2.1k, my friend at 1.6 or something similar. The average and high skill brackets are based on current MMR, not initial calibrations.

Long time ago 3k is OK, but nowadays, 3k and 4k Pool is not OK :)
Till 4k5 above its ok a bit

this sounds like the truth. had 200 hours, won 8/10, final mmr ended up at ~1k e_e
