If you have a USB or an external harddrive with enough space to fit the game, he could make a backup of the game from his computer. You can then install the game on your PC using that backup.
To make a back up on steam, simply right click the game on your library and select 'Backup game files' and choose where to save it.

I've got the backup from his pc, but the backup is a folder called Disk1 and full of CSM or CSD files. I just put this folder into Steamapps>common ?

Unless your friend has done some rather fishy things with the game, you shouldn't have any issue.

I've never bothered with that kind of thing. I would suggest you copy the appmanifest_570.acf in your friend's steamapps folder onto your steamapp folder, then the dota2 folder in steamapps>common.

Open Steam's menu and go to 'Backup or restore games'. Then select 'Restore a previous backup' and choose where you want it to install. That should be it.
