how to disable Pulseaudio support
Long story short. I have pulseaudio, because firefox and skype don't support alsa anymore(yep, just because it works for you - you are lucky, they wont accept bug reports, Mozilla specifically stated it, that on Linux they only support pulseaudio) and pulseaudio has major bug with chromiun that is not resolved for several months if not years.

Sound works. Recording doesn't. Work around - to kill pulseaudio. Then all works fuine, but i can't listen to video in browser, unless i listen to video in different web browser.

I tried SDL sound driver variable in steam and in DOTA2. Doesn't matter, still pulse is used if available. Variable ignored.

How can I reliably use ALSA and ALSA only in DOTA2?

You want to use pulseaudio with everything, except DotA2 which will use ALSA?
Anyway, maybe this will help you: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/5i4dt1/dota_2_using_alsa_instead_of_pulseaudio/

i am already not using anything with alsa, exception programs that dont work without alsa, like firefox, chromium and skype.

I have other browsers that work from alsa, mp3 players etc. Dota 2 works fine, i can speak to people. I can't do that once i start game with pulse audio on. Pulse audio is horse****, i am ttrying to avoid it.
