Dota 2
How do you guys last hit with consistency?
Greetings!

First of all, I´m a pretty bad player, I can´t deny that. My solo MMR is around 1.8k and my Team MMR even worse, somewhere around 1.3k.

Everyone down here sucks totally, including me. If someone reaches 30k farm after 60 minutes, he´s probably winning already because he outfarmed the others.

So, I haven´t really decided what role I´m going to play yet, BUT I can see that I´m struggling to last hit. Either I get harrased away so I can´t take them, or I simply screw the timing.

Do you guys practice Last Hitting and if so, how? Are there any other ways to improve my Last Hitting and is there another way to make it easier for me except a quelling blade?

This is my Dotabuff http://www.dotabuff.com/players/85130890 (Expect it to be bad, I´m aware of that)

Thanks in advance,
-Toeli

Practice your timing in hitting creeps . Dont give up!
just remember how fast your attack speed and the damage of your hero.

if you want to challange yourself with last hits, pick shadow fiend or techies and try to last hit with those.
If you wanna come join us from practice you can, I usually play with players such as mtn and that so like im pretty sure we can help you to get better. Add me and pm me for details (also install discord, thats the voice software we use).

if you get harrased on the other hand you are either in the offlane where enemy have advantage or your supports in the safelane are not doing their job right..
I wouldn't always say that, your abillity to control creep equiblibirum and use agro to your advantage makes a really big difference in lane and your supports cant really affect that positively. ^^

its true you are right
make a lobby with no bots and just go last hit for 10 minutes. 40 lhs in 10 min is like the minimum for a decent carry game. 80 last hits+ is you're getting there. 100 last hits in 10 minuets is impossible with only lane creeps unless you're playing say an alch and you're pretty good. but do that and keep last hitting.

learn to freeze the lane. you can look this up

and 3, know when to push and when your creeps are pushed up go and farm the hard camp if you can (say with a morphling). or go and take a stack your support should have done (if you're in a higher bracket)
I think you need to practice with no additional damage at all from items.

Try practicing both range and melee heroes, also there are some differences on range heroes right clicks. For example: gyro/sniper against drow/enchantress right clicks.

40 lh in 10 minutes is horrible for a "decent" carry.
80 lh in 10 minutes is literally impossible by just laning. At minute 10 you get 19 creep waves and a total of 78 creeps, not considering the travel distance untill it reaches the t1.

Aim for ~55 lasthits, this means you can miss every 4th creep (or one creep for each wave) which should be possible for a safelane carry and a matching support - for a trilane you should aim for 70, every miss is a mistake there.

when i say decent carry i mean like for starters my bad. its also the minimum for a carry in a tough lane is what i mean.
Totally a good question
Disable auto attack first. On melee heroes, get a quelling blade. Then practice.

Don't worry about the numbers as that will depend on your lane partner and enemies in lane.

If you end up with a bad laning stage, get some lifesteal/regen and head into the jungle and farm. Carry tp and port to unattended lanes if any.

PA and Viper are good for practice.

Or you could practice with supports, only instead of last hitting enemy creeps you deny your own.

How's last hitting with shadow fiend a challenge?
I didn't read the entire thread so maybe this has been said already:

One good trick to learn is target an enemy hero with an auto attack while near the creeps. When the creeps target you, walk back towards your tower. This will put the creeps you want to last hit on your side of the creep wave. That makes them much easier for you to hit and also gives you better protection. If the enemies target you to harrass, your creeps are now closer to them and will get more hits on them. This is especially useful if you are melee.

Hit cancel over and over

I dont do this as i dont like having auto attack on. That said, this hrings up another thing that helps. You should do a fake attack on the creep you are going to last hit before you want to hit it, then cancel that attack. This helps by making sure you are in position to hit it and gives you a feel for your hit timing just before you need to last hit.
You should learn to last his with no quell or some crit or damage buff. Learn to last hit when the creep can die in less than a last hit. That's how the pros do it. Like if a creep can already die in a hit, don't do it until it's even lower too the point that even a single creep could steal it. That's how I learn.

Even though my last hits are very low, it's only because I play cores that don't need farm or can do without last hits like timber and supports who shouldn't last hit. But my carries always have great farm.
