How do you deal with a Phantom lancer.

Recently I played against a PL, I picked AM on an offlane and I get 2 kills and booted him out of lane pretty fast within 5 min or so. But we still manage to lost the game. He get diffusal and heart and its pretty much over. My core Jug was way ahead but we cant seem to kill PL unless its a 4 v 1 scenario. I'm fairly new against a PL so any help would be nice. Is his doppleganger a little too strong with a 6 sec cd with talent, high damage illusion, a tanky one and a dispell with a disjoint. On top of his already good stats. I was even when it comes to farm and my core was ahead, even then killing him was almost impossible. Please dont include a hero counter because a last pick PL cant be hero countered

First, don't feed PL or else even the counters won't matter.

1) Axe melts PL and his clones
2) Perma stun him, which can be achieved single-handedly with Sladar if you buy a lot of attack speed.
3) Elder Titan counters every tanky character with his ultimate and refresher orb.
4) as someone else mentioned, Radiance is a good item, but it will fall off late-game
5) Items and characters that reduce attack speed reduces the amount of clones generated through the ultimate. In particular, Venomancer is a good option if PL and Venomancer are around the same level.

Honestly, if PL is not fed then any team composition can usually stop him.

This is easier said than done.. Id rather go against a 9999k sven then a 15k PL. My biggest problem is his illusion uptime is nonstop, so even if we manage to identify him he manage to escape death or he just dopple and we lose track of him again.

Insta pick ES, Sand King or Axe and just stomp all over him from early on. Like even lower skill brackets know that PL is garbage against AOE heroes that melt illusions. See PL is very specific, he's not the only illusion based hero in the game, however he's the only that has his entire skill set dedicated to these illusions. Unlike him Spectre, Naga and TB for instance offer other skills that are still useful even after their illusions are gone, where PL is just a little lonely guy without his yellow copies around. But if you let him snowball it becomes bad, but thats the case with any carry that handle late game as well.

Pick Centaur.

Buy blademail, heart, radiance (bonus points if a vest drops, more bonus points if cloak of flames drops)

Run up on his ass and spam stun and double edge... Usually he just runs like a ♥♥♥♥♥, but if your team is there to help you can usually get the kill pretty easy...

Very funny lol mmr advices here...but OP itself seems to be lol mmr bracket.

Skilled PL is a problem because: you can't stack skills like Ursa third, Troll third, Slark third etc hitting illusions effectively. So you'll need strong physical AOE damage dealers and sometimes two of them. No mjollnirs etc trash will help against PL with proper items. 1 v 1 it's almost impossible to beat PL - only FVoid can do this and some other heroes if they'll catch him alone. He'll treat Axe and similar like standard heroes do: silver edge and satanic and ez Axe. Problem with PL that he hits hard and have way more illusions than others.

So typical PL with HOT and Diffusal are not so scary at all. Be afraid of PL with basher and satanic - even in dense teamfight he'll catch someone before dead. Also at some point PL can fight with illusions only: unlike Naga and TB PL illusions cast more illusions themselves. And with high DPS it's a big problem. Anyway, don't rely on magical items but on stable physical AOE only. If your team don't have real PL counter and he's good and match is fair then it's lost for you.

Dazzle and Lion's AOE morph clears all illusions instantly, in addition Lion's AOE mana drain clears illusions instantly.
Aside from that, any AOE skills (if your lvl is not much lower thant PL) can clear illusions pretty quickly.
PL is weak in late game (if you dont feed him too much), no very useful (if not fat).

Amazing is that, my support (who picked Necro) can farm all game while dying 10 time in 10 mins (thanks to Valve's matchmaking system), therefore whoever you face is irrelevant because your game is doomed from the beginning (thanks to Gaben).

So as naive as you could be, I suggest people stop asking these kind of questions and START REVIEWING DOTA 2 IN STEAM SHOP.

GIVE YOUR VALUABLE DISLIKE OR DEEP REPUGNANCE SO THAT VALVE COMPANY WILL FACE PLAYERS' ANGER HONESTLY.
BEFORE THIS HAPPENS NOTHING IS MEANINGFUL.
