It's a harsh penalty, but it's really easy to avoid.
It isn't unfair because just think of how long you made other 9 people wait for a match when you failed to ready up. In higher mmr qeues where it takes 30 minutes on occassion to find a match, people who repeatedly fail to join the qeue should be removed for a long time!
Matchmaking is a general refence i.e. public matchmaking = pubs, ranked matchmaking = ranked.
So in fact you have participated in matchmaking!
Ha! I realized that after the fact. I just meant I don't have an mmr. I never do any ranked matches.
the 24 hours ban is actually called "24 hours matchmaking ban".
which in other words, you can't go and queue for any dota 2 matches.
the only way to get 24 hour matchmaking ban is only this reason
1) you dodge dota 2 matchmaking queues more than once either by not accepting the match or you failed to connect to the match after 5 mins after accepting the match.
here is the main advice
i) if you got something important to do like going out soon within 15 mins to 25 mins, don't queue in the first place as most matches will take longer than that.

and how you get it.
Volvo doesn't check comments out here. So you can remain as a non-DOTA player.
