aura disabling
Hey guys, I was just wondering here: does/did Dota ever have something focused specifically on disabling auras? I know "break" can disable passives, but what about something that could, for example, disable Vlads?

The reason I'm asking this is because maybe this could be something interesting to see in game somehow. Say, for example, if AA's "Ice Vortex" disabled any sort of aura originating from a hero caught on it (or maybe even also disabeling any incoming auras on that spot). Given that we even talk about some heroes as being good or bad "aura carriers" (as if it was almost a role), wouldn't this present an interesting interaction?

Anyway, I just wanted to hear your thoughts on it.

yeah sound a good idea a spell which can disable / break auras sounds very good
and as name i would suggest demonic axe
if they make it reaver + recipe cost 500 gold sounds balanced
gives 35 streangs and 400 hp and 5 all atribuates and the ability to click it
after u click it the next atack will break the auras
OR a upgrade to silver edge which is
silver edge + reaver + recipe = demonic axe
what u guys think ?

Is not 1200 hp a little much for a reaver and a 500 rec? So for 500 you get 700 hp and the ability to break auras...

Aa much as I like the underlying idea, I think that a whole new item just for this might be a little bit too much. I think it could work as an addition to Silver Edge, though, and I still believe it could fit well as a ability on some heroes. I really think it fits with AA's kit since you could try to zone some heroes into Ice Vortex and stun them there in order to "mute" their auras. Think about about effectively cancelling that annoying Radiance on the opposite team's carry.

Disabling auras is kind of a very specific function- I feel like it would be very niche and probably a sub-function of some other item, or it would never see much use.

Normally Valve prefers to do thinks that sort-of counter an aura or buff instead, like Pipe granting magic absortion to counter Veil, or having a Deso to remove armor. Or it's an ability on heroes in the form of something like ET's aura which makes players more vulnerable to damage. That way it's useful against defenses of all kinds, as opposed to just countering a different item or ability.

Anything that mutes the inventory of the target disables item auras if I'm not mistaken.

Yea, I have a similar impression. As a matter of fact, this idea came to my mind while I was thinking of subtle ways to buff back AA into the meta by adding a little something to his current skillset. I say "subtle" because I agree with you that it would be a very specific function and not worty of an item or something more major.

As far as I know, "mute" effects only applies to activation-based items.
