For what reasons?
Doesn't Valve own Dota 2 now? Icefrog sold the rights in 2016 I believe.

I read that somewhere Icefrog sold the rights to the name 'Defence of the Ancients' to Blizzard, but Blizzard didn't take it as seriously as he hoped for DOTA, so he used the name 'DOTA 2' with his deal with Valve.

That's also why the hero's look so different in 'Dota 2', cause they couldn't use other owned IP of DOTA 1, also hero names are different from Dota 1 for the same reason.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct_ you are right.

But i think it was around 2011 that this was done, not 2016.
Obviously law battles- and negotiations takes tonnes of time, that we aren't even aware of, but as of the Ti ago - and league of legends ago- they are competing for this MOBA, amazing-competitions - with complexity and all in-between _ but valve have turned it into a customization warhorse, :) decorate your beast away, maybe you get icons, maybe sprites around the items :

and Blizzard have done 0 - absolutely nothing - Heroes of the storm was late to the genre - Even smite is better than that :P _

and life has evolved on both ends till Bliizzard announces W3 Reforged - seriously - Dota 2 players might even reverse back to dota 1 :) I simply will definitely try it :_)_ lol":

League on the other hand, has created a shadow over dota, and it is just as good, with different elements being part of the economy and some not [No denials in lane - cannot asphyxiate your enemy]

That’s not a valid reason. Things like patch notes and important changes to the rules of the forums are pinned.

This is a lawsuit. Nothing new here.

Discussions of a specific game, where it is found, hosted, and loved, hated, and all in-between is a phenomenal place to keep such a treasure :)
Valve ∞ ♥
This is enlisted in a google search too :) because it was created- and is the most relevant to its cause as of 19 Nov 2018

I tired LoL once, when Dota had an article saying LoL was doing great financially. My experience was, seems shallow and lacking in gameplay engagement, was totally boring to me, also I love how you can mix and match cosmetics in Dota 2.

And Riot are becoming a 'woke' company I read somehwere, also 'surrender option', and their mute system, 2 reports get's you instant banned/mute, so people are too afraid to talk. Doesn't make for a good game. Everything to me just says stay away from that.

Dota 2 is the game for me.

I like the future with Dota 2. I was thinking about getting reforged for the other custom maps. Not for Dota though. I can't go back to Dota 1 after I played Dota 2.

I agree.

Everyone should know.

Nowadays It would be simply Icefrog and Eul, Both of them are working on Valve.

At the early beginning of League of Legends, Riot (Guinsoo and Pendragon) did register the "DotA:All Stars" trademark but sold it to Blizzard overtime.
In order for Dota 2 to exist, Valve had to get into an agreement with Blizzard as a part of the "Dota" lawsuit and Valve actually did it.

Blizzard gave Valve the right to use with "Dota" while Blizzard kept the "All-Stars" trademark which is eventually made into Heroes of the Storm.

Eul quit and gave his right's to Icefrog (reason why Valve owns Dota and not Riot), and DotA: All Stars is Dota 1(or 1.5, there where like 5 different Dota's, but only All Star was a hit), the only thing Blizzard had to say about Dota 2 where the names of the Heroes (Skeleton King was the last name to be changed with his skin)

I heard that Icefrog stopped working at Valve, and started helping out Riot. After he sold the rights to Valve. Could be wrong.

Well, I didn't research it that much, I was interested in this subject a few months ago, and did a bit of google searching, and that was the info I found on some forums.

He could be working for both, non at all, or a pilgrimage in India with Cat Stevens for all I know.
