Treant protector advice?
I've watched games and a tp can keep the towers repaired to undo unsuccessful enemy pushes as well as healing allies and weakening enemies. It has time to ward too. It seems like it is very effective, even OP since I've seen weaker teams win because their towers keep healing up and they can be healed anywhere on the map when needed.

When I try it, I do those things. I heal allies, cast leech on enemies, repair towers and ward. However, I find it handicaps my team since it's now 4 vs 5 in team fights. I can't really do much in a team fight except sneak in when someone is almost dead to finish it off.

Also, once they dust for me, I'm pretty much dead. I keep moving but they must ward for me too and spot me.

Are TP's only good if your team is good enough to make up for 4v5, ie the high level teams?

In other words, as a newer player playing with regular players, is it a hero I should pick, or is it just going to hurt my team?

you will hurt your team anyways, so just pick a hero you have fun with

Treant Protector's ult is good for initiation- it's like Tidehunter except instead of stunning it goes through magic immunity. Also, Treant is slow but he hits pretty hard, if you or someone on your team can farm up an Assault Curias you'll do much better if you want to go that route. I've also seen the occasional Radiance on him. Really though I think your first big item should be Scepter- don't underestimated that value of map-coverage that all those free wards give.

Anyway, in a teamfight just ult, drop Leech Seed, heal someone, and then start punching people, refreshing your W and E as often as possible.

treant seems very passive hero to play, but the key to succeed with him is planning ahead and constant communication with your team. your team must tell you whether they want to push or play safe and let you heal towers. this may change several times in a match. you should also be present in every team fight. again, this requires constant communication...

TP should be able to carry out teamfights with his ultimate. That ability can easily turn a teamfight around, if you time and position it right. Focus the teamfights around it, get a blink or force staff if needed. Never spam it just to sneak in a little dmg on a sniper u see farming jungle, make sure it results in a kill or an escape for ur teammate. You can get items in order to help in teamfights, such as shiva, rod or atos, etc. Tbh, that hero is amazing, he can ward the whole map, he can heal up his towers and save teammates, and has a good arsenal of disables, and can easily escape. Keep practising him, just remeber to support. He has a good potential to boost a carry in lane by harrassing with invis, or by helping the carry get kills using the root+seed combo, and ult when needed.

Agreed.
If your heal is off cooldown, your doing it wrong IMO. You need to be keeping an eye on the entire map at once, while still not ignoring your lane. People who sit in the fountain just healing towers are playing TP at only a fraction of his potential.

Oh, i saved a team by going to the fountain to be able to heal teammates and the remaining tower. I had been roaming around, but the heals ate up all my mana so i went to the fountain to sustain my mana. We only had one tower left, but i kept the teammates alive in fights from base and that turned it around.

I don't think i wanted to risk being spotted and killed, without my heals the game would have been lost.

use the seed in the weaker enemy, so at the time that hero dies, heals your partners, but please consider the enemy, FE. there is no use in leaching a huskar or viper due to their magic resistace. Heroes like lina can be a bad chice too, since she can break the trees and avoid you to hide, same as a VS, but movement dependant heroes like am, on early and mid game can be a good target for an ult+leech combo forcing them to retreat

also TP is a great aura carrier

- Don't rush Aghanim
- Buy Orb of Venom,Boots,Spirit Vessel-Meteor Hammer
- If you want to buy items like Radiance,Pipe,Force Staff ; Don't play Treant Protector
- Watch the map for Living Armor but don't die in lane when doing this
- You are not support but that doesn't mean u should don't buy wards/courier
- Don't level up your ult at level 6 if you think your lane is safe enough , keep your mana

this can only work in herald matches. later you must start playing smarter if you want to win. this is one of the reasons why we have so many smurfs in this game. immature people don't like to think...

Wait, you're saying it was immature and not thinking? It was the best course. I had to heal nonstop to keep them alive and it saved them and won the game. The enemy was actively dusting and warding for me, if they found me and killed me, the team would fall without the heals. it was the most useful thing I could have done.

There were many times they were being pursued and my heal was the only thing that kept them alive. Or when pudge got them with his ultimate, my heal at the right moment kept them from dying. The barracks for two lanes were unprotected and I had to keep those up as well as the tower for the top barracks which came close to being destroyed a few times.

I also did not have the mana to do it out in the field. The fountain took care of that.

Roaming would have been a bad choice as I wouldn't be able to keep monitoring every ally and heal when needed.

Other than my Ultimate, I had very little to offer in team fights. My items were all supportive.

In another game, my teammates weren't taking on so much damage and I didn't have to take care of them, I was able to go out and participate with other skills while still healing when needed.

if your team won that match, it was 100% effective.

i'm just saying that you'll unavoidably meet better-organized teams. many heroes (pangolier, gyrocopter, ursa...) alone could eat up treant's e so fast that you would believe. :)

You are right, the next 2 times I played TP I didn't need to go to the fountain and I could be much more versatile.

Your ult is a great team fight skill, and you should be using your root to initiate ganks or hit people in the middle of team fights, not wait until they are almost dead and finish them off.

Also, make sure you are using your heal during fights, not just to heal people up after they are hurting. It doesn't just heal, it also blocks damage while it's active.

If a hero farms enough, they can tank a tower and take it down without a creep wave. If your team gets wiped or harassed out of lane or just ratted, you won't be able to outheal their damage mid-late game.
