Ehh, I think Blizzard Dota would have been more cartoony, more like LoL aesthetic and less like the awesomeness it is today.
I used to play HotS before moving to LoL as the game had a promotional skin to Overwatch (Officer D.Va) but Blizzard screwed up with this game so badly and I'm not sure if the game is considered as a MOBA or no as it's already removed even the basic aspect of itemztion. I legit feel bad for the HotS players that had to deal with us (OW players who came to get the skin)
It sucked. It created a lot of animosity between Overwatch and HoTS/OW players because these OW players were throwing/feeding like crazy, just straight up facetanking towers, dying, respawning then going straight back to facetank a tower again because some of those cross-game quests only required players to play a certain number of games, not win them.
so it was never a problem/more of a good idea to get ppl involved in their other games
of course greed was the key motivation here
but so was to provide a fun place to make ppl want to spend money in a free to play game
Sure, in theory...but that's not how it went down, hence why the HoTS forums were full of complaints of OW players intentionally griefing, feeding and throwing to end games as quickly as possible so they could get their participation skin.
just look at this forum
they could not even if they wanted to ruin any form of games other than level 1-10 games if they wanted to
and alot of other new players on moba games tend to be terrible and die over and over to towers and so on
so who could tell if it was intentional or not
it was more an outrage from the hots community that hots was being filled up with characters from overwatch
instead of the devs putting out fanfavs from the diablo/warcraft games
I remember when that event happened because I was playing HoTS at the time and I was like level 200+ or something. I could tell the difference between a new player genuinely trying and people who were just feeding to end games quickly so they could get their "Play X games" quest finished for their free OW skins. A lot of these people literally said in-game, "I don't care, just here for the skin" and kept feeding so the way it was "supposed" to happen, is not how it actually happened.

Wow this #1 franchise makes 6 million dollars for Blizzard, while dota 2 makes at least 75 million from TI alone. Moreover now, it doesn't seem to generates millions anymore.
Smart kid, this is a bargain don't you think?
"Blizzard has managed to maintain healthy subscriber numbers during the game's more than 12 years of existence. At its best, it held North of 12 million paying customers, equating to roughly $180 million per month in subscription revenue, or $2.15 billion per year.

In comparison to Dota2 2017
https://www.statista.com/statistics/807617/dota-2-revenue/
"In 2017, the free-to-play MOBA game DOTA 2 generated 406 million U.S. dollars in revenue, up from 260 million a year earlier."
You might wanna check your facts before typing nonsense.
