7.20 Troll - Too angry to die , or too eager to die?
7.20 has been out for quite some time, and lately i have started experimenting with troll warlord , testing out the changes on the hero. Many carries got some interesting changes, definitely making them stronger. So lets check on troll. My conclusion : the hero barely makes it to B rank. His farming speed is awefull , his fighting capabilities are almost half of what it used to be , and his late game is almost non existent vs not brain dead enemies who know to kite/stun him. But lets expand on that:

1)Troll is a slot starving hero, who prioritizes on fighting over farming to increase his net worth. Getting battlefury to farm faster delays by quite some time when the hero will come active, and most of the time , its useless in fights , since troll is a single target "nuker" .

2)Fervor stacks now dropping to 0 after switching targets not only cuts his farming speed, but fighting capabilities as well. Before , you could pop a 30sec cool down battle trance and instantly stack attack speed for farming and fighting , while boosting your whole team's dps and pushing power.

3)Battle trance is completely unpredictable , and what it offers for a 90sec cool down with losing control of your hero is underwhelming. Many players are even very cautious to use it, because of the long cooldown, thinking it might be useful in the future, or disrupt your position, ultimately killing you. On top of that, one well timed eul's or stun almost erases the trance duration. Or a good timed force can make your hero start running out of position , exposing you and your team to unnecessary harm, or even attacking creeps/jungle while your team is fighting 4v5.

4)The net ability on berseker's rage is garbage. And i am not talking about how its not only "good" , its just not fun and does not go with the hero concept. Perma-netting enemies from full hp, unable to escape is plainly stupid, and can be frustrating. The bash was much better, and offered more utility , completely stunning enemies for the duration, while allowing targets the option to react/escape, since it would expire , if luck was not out of the charts for troll. Also, as i mentioned earlier, troll is a slot/farm starving hero , and its no wonder skull basher now is a core item on him, because stuns, they are just good.

The list of problems can go on forever, but to cut this short, i have thought of some changes to make the hero more interesting, and increase his presence, while staying close to the hero concept, and would like your opinion on them:

1)Remove skull basher from troll , and restore the bash in melee form, or maybe even add the net function in ranged form , and bash in melee form.

2)Either restore fervor to its last form, losing half the stacks on switching targets, or add an active component providing increased attack speed for a short duration(or getting double stacks on hit).

3)Lower the cool down on battle trance to maybe 40-50 seconds and add %status resist for the duration, while allowing the use of items that affect only troll warlord ( bkb, blink, shadow blade etc).

So, what do you guys think?

I think fervor is fine and really you couldn't have bash and a short term invincibility effect together, so the netting is a justifiable compromise since you can probably dispel out of it anyway, which is always handy to have a omniknight with divine fervour or any other such items that have good dispel effects.

Null talisman comes to mind as a effective troll counter, they won't be able to use any items when cast on them & you can dispel yourself since troll is basically point blank combat focused, and other heroes like axe can just kill troll outright by trading damage leading to ult.

Netting is also effective versus other escape heroes like AM or slark Troll historically had a issue with due to the RNG nature of bash with them just zooming away without slamming a abyssal blade onto them. If you pop BKB & blademail when troll tries to attack you, you 'should' be fine anyway with a little support or clearly superior items deflecting additional passive magic effects like javelins or Eye of Skadi.

netting is not effecting on heroes like AM for example. Just play one game and you'll see. If AM uses manta style, not only does it remove net so he can blink, if you had been using battle trance , troll would switch targets and start attacking the illusions, allowing am to escape. This happens on every ability that shortly removes you from the game ( monkey transformation , pa blur , etc) Also, whats the point of an ultimate ability, which one item ( blade mail ) completely counters it? Troll is already weak to so many things, and adding more to that only makes it worse.

Get bashed in the head by an axe? No sense.
Get cut by an axe and a wild net appears? Much better.
