Internet connection slows down whenever i launch Dota 2 !!!

Hey guys,

So i have been playing Dota 2 on my new Lenovo Y520 for around 1.5 months now without any issues until a week ago; first, i started to get bans because i wasn't able to connect after accepting the matches. Upon checking the connection, everything seems fine.
I turned off the firewall and checked several solutions as found on the internet but nothing worked. At this point, i didn't have any other option than uninstalling and then re-installing the game. That solution worked for a day until this moment where i am again facing the same issues and i just got a 3-hour ban.
In addition to that, i noticed that whenever i launch Dota 2, my internet speed becomes 0.3 for download and around 0.2 for uploads as tested on speedtest.
As soon as i close the game, the connection turns back to normal: 8 mbps for download and 0.6 for the upload.

Is anyone facing the same problem and would appreciate any solutions for this frustrating matter.

If your network is slowing down, that’s an ISP issue. You need to contact them.

Hey man, i checked with them and the test showed that everything is working perfectly from their side - so weird

Hey man, i am connecting the laptop with a cable to the router + i am not using any other app or prog on my laptop neither on my mobile phone when i try to connect to the game. Thx anw

Then it’s either your modem or your router. If you are using an old router, it may be time to replace it.

Same problem with Internet getting extremely slow if Dota is launched.
I am also using a Lenovo laptop, mine is Y720. Could this be an issue with the hardware or drivers on the laptops?
I have a very good connection and brand new routers, so the problem most certainly isn't there. Also, I haven't noticed this problem with any other games or programs as of yet. A year and a half with this laptop.

did you measure the speed on a second device or on the same you play with?

how much does said slowdown last?
like, if you close the game, how much/what it takes to recover?

coild it be some kind of thermal throttliong?

i think i know whats wrong ... actually my GF figured it out
we both have lenovo y520 and we had the same issue
seems like there is an option in the lenovo nerve center called network priority which causes dota to work badly
just turn it off ^__^ and thank my baby

Just to give some details Boost Network (dota2) should be switched off.

Sending huge thank you to you GF... I tried like evertyhing to sort out the internet slow, during playing dota (recently changed my ISP, new cable, new route, which was needed anyway). And it was causing that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing in Lenovo Vantage. Never gonna believe such thing again. Thank you very much again.

Dota servers have been terrible today, maybe its just that. last 3 games have been not scored due to poor network conditions

If you are on wifi, Dota disconnects you from the game if you go under 5 bars, at any time. It's extremely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying, considering dota doesn't necessarily require a god tier speed, it just requires that it be connected 100% of the time to send all of the packets.
