No you can't get a refund for the subscription you bought without reading.

This is the way steam refunds work. If you get a consumable item/subscription, then once it's charged, there's no going back. Paypal also won't refund you if you have a recurring subscription with a service and accidentally forget to cancel it.

if you notice from the screenshot., there is the option for "more purchase options" where you can purchase dota plus for just only a usage of 1 month without auto renewal at all.

yes, every subscription service works like this. you have to buy a non-renewable block (from more purchasing options as I did to extend my d+ to a year) in order to not get charged when subs end.

Hulu, Crunchyroll, Funimation, Hidive, Netflix, Eve Online, Anarchy Online, World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV (3 of these last 4 are on steam)... All have AUTOMATIC RENEWING SUBSCRIPTIONS...

Just like dota plus, you AGREED to the subscription when you bought it without buying a non-renewing block.

It's not a trap, this is how EVERY SUBSCRIPTION works. Final Fantasy XIV, Eve Online, you name it, you buy a sub, it's monthly recurring unless you pick the option for only one time.

I, as well as everyone else who read what we buy, know that we bought a subscription, in my case it was 1 year, renewing march next year.
