Returning player: how can I get QOP Arcana?
Can I still get it? I know it was via the battle pass in summer of 2020 but obviously today is Feb 2022

I see *uninstalls DOTA2* back to League then. Guess Valve doesn't want my money

They do thats the proble they feed on compulsive behavior. If it was not time limited there would be no point.

Id be willing to buy the legacy battle pass and payout the levels in full (whatever that is). $100?400?500?

Not that much for me. But whatever, that's VALVE's loss ultimately. There's lot of us whales that played DOTA2 back in beta and now might come back. But if they're gonna be silly clowns about walled cosmetics then they can go eat a can of tidehunter member.

Its way more complicated. You also need to factor the treasures you get and other things in the battle pass. You will rip yourself off if you just bought 500 levels without the chances that they give to you via treasures. Like you can drop cosmically rare aegis underglow effect...just kiddin or some rare sets.

I don't care though.

To give you perspective, a typical unlock for a COD MW Season Pass thats half done or a bundle in League of Legends is easily $50-100 USD.

The fact that VALVE doesn't even allow new players to tap into retrospective cosmetic content is a lost revenue channel for them.

Maybe they want to keep the pass at "ultimate FOMO" but it does nothing for "new" players like me, I have nothing to "FOMO" if I wasn't a customer back then.

But lets be honest, and I've been playing VALVE games since HL1 - they're probably one of the most poorly managed companies in the gaming industry. Without STEAM, they would've gone bankrupt a long time ago. Them doing stupid ♥♥♥♥ like this doesn't even surprise me.

I mean, they've been doing this for years. You can call it lost revenue all you want cause obviously you have a PhD in business and are a business manager for 20+ years, but if they are doing it then it's the way they make more money.

They do. Plenty of things to buy from previous events and battlepasses in the shop and the marketplace for whales. But not everything.
With exclusives, the deal is 100% in favor of Valve from a business perspective. They do way more revenue in the timestamp during which exclusives are available compared to making them available for direct purchase.
And, you probably won't admit it but the fact that those Arcana are impossible to get afterwards will activate your FOMO like hell when the next exclusives will be available.

Good try though.

Nah, I was a QOP one trick in ranked. Not gonna install. I have plenty of other games/stuff to do to tide me over.

Good try though.

Well.... It IS their fault. They literally chose to make it unattainable. I wanted the tiny Immortal... but couldn't get it because I didn't play that season so didn't even know it was there or limited time, so same problem, I am forced to go without despite being willing to fork over even a 100$ for it if it was at least marketable.

that makes sense, but the whole point is next time a skin comes out you're gonna spend $450 on the battle pass even if you don't want anything else

Yes. A bundle for League of legends TFT is already $100 USD. Prestige skins are changing to a pay wall gate for about $100.

Back when I used to play COD MW, I'd usually finish the pass with $$ cause I simply didn't have time. Amounted easily to $50. I don't really care since I stopped going out due to the pandemic. A night out with drinks+food easily goes past $100 after tipping.

A few hundred dollars to skip some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gate-grind set up by VALVE is "ok" if you enjoy the content and play the hero/champion a lot.

Really not sure why they don't allow legacy pass and/or pay grind for past arcanas/content but hey, I guess that saves me time and money. Not my loss.

I feel you on this. When I was a kid I hated "whales", why should they get things I had to grind for? Then I got older and between my job and other obligations draining my time I found myself becoming what I use to hate and I finally understood them. I think they should at least make them part of a cache or SOMETHING, so that even if you do have to shell out money it is at least a small chance of getting it.
