Not that much for me. But whatever, that's VALVE's loss ultimately. There's lot of us whales that played DOTA2 back in beta and now might come back. But if they're gonna be silly clowns about walled cosmetics then they can go eat a can of tidehunter member.
To give you perspective, a typical unlock for a COD MW Season Pass thats half done or a bundle in League of Legends is easily $50-100 USD.
The fact that VALVE doesn't even allow new players to tap into retrospective cosmetic content is a lost revenue channel for them.
Maybe they want to keep the pass at "ultimate FOMO" but it does nothing for "new" players like me, I have nothing to "FOMO" if I wasn't a customer back then.
But lets be honest, and I've been playing VALVE games since HL1 - they're probably one of the most poorly managed companies in the gaming industry. Without STEAM, they would've gone bankrupt a long time ago. Them doing stupid ♥♥♥♥ like this doesn't even surprise me.
They do. Plenty of things to buy from previous events and battlepasses in the shop and the marketplace for whales. But not everything.
With exclusives, the deal is 100% in favor of Valve from a business perspective. They do way more revenue in the timestamp during which exclusives are available compared to making them available for direct purchase.
And, you probably won't admit it but the fact that those Arcana are impossible to get afterwards will activate your FOMO like hell when the next exclusives will be available.
Good try though.

always have to find a problem with everything
Yes. A bundle for League of legends TFT is already $100 USD. Prestige skins are changing to a pay wall gate for about $100.
Back when I used to play COD MW, I'd usually finish the pass with $$ cause I simply didn't have time. Amounted easily to $50. I don't really care since I stopped going out due to the pandemic. A night out with drinks+food easily goes past $100 after tipping.
A few hundred dollars to skip some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gate-grind set up by VALVE is "ok" if you enjoy the content and play the hero/champion a lot.
Really not sure why they don't allow legacy pass and/or pay grind for past arcanas/content but hey, I guess that saves me time and money. Not my loss.
