Yeah, it is ridiculous. Just ignore them. Usually they are mad because they are not as good as they think they are anyway.
DotA is more serious than a lot of people understand. A lot of players have a lot of personal goals and the 2 most important are WinRate (effected by both normal and Ranked modes) and MMR (only effected in Ranked).
YOUR gameplay has a lot to do with being part of the TEAM. If you pick a carry you are expoected to carry the team, if you pick support you are expected to support your carrys. If you fail at doing your role in Ranked games, well then even mediocre players get flamed.
I will help someone a lot more in normal mode than i am willing to do in Ranked gaming. I am in ranked to do 2 things. Raise my MMR and my winrate.
My advice start with bot matches, when you can do like me and play 10 bot matches in Unfair difficulty and win all 10 games consecutively, you are almost ready for P2P action. The next thing is find a group of friends who dont care about their MMR and WinRate much and are willing to risk a few losses to help you out.
Most important STOP PLAYING RANKED GAMES!!
In this case you'll get used to the game, and play better when you think it's ready to jump in pubs.
Game on anyway but not ranked.
Also, mute. Always mute.
I don't disagree with you in general, but things are not quite like that.
1 - There are few ways to win matches with unfair bots, and they don't teach anything but play in individualistic ways, without any concern w/ the team's movements. Furthermore, it's impossible to train the support role in these matches.
2 - The game was not meant to be taken seriously, who decides this is the player, usually motivated by the dream (or the illusion) of becoming a professional. Still, professionalism requires respect for others above all, because it's the basis of ethics in professional sports. In short: Dota is just a game, and its only goal is to provide fun.
3 - If your team has noobies, the opponent team has too, and the more skillful in everything, including in motivating the noobies to make a good match with you, will win.
In my opinion, there is no good reason to be rude to anyone. And to deal with adversity is part of a training that will definitely lead you to high winrates and MMR.
