Dota 2
Dota takes over 2 minutes to launch properly?
Lately, the game takes over 2 minutes to first start and get to the skippable cinematic. Any idea how I can shorten that time?

Is it installed on a SSD? How is your memory looking when trying to launch? Is your CPU relatively modern?

Use launch option command to solve it such as -prewarm -high -dx11(Gives you perfomence boost from what I heard and it should be default insteadd of DX9) -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -map_dota -novid and in-game under the video tab limit framerate to 144-140 and rendering to 75-78% now navigate to the dota 2 in the library and open local files and open SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\game\dota\panorama\videos and delete every single webem file besides the five or six folders leave them alone.

Those are just background videos and bunch of animation videos which play on the main screen of DotA 2 which costs heavy CPU and RAM usage which is why many people often mistake it as memory leak on Dota 2 client side which is false it's just like browser full of tabs.

Also you have to delete those videos each time a new event is launched such as diretide it will have new UI with new background video and such so just clean up the webem video files and you are good. Or you can just select the onces that has names such as background or aegis background video or anything that hints that this video fits on that panel if you are anxious about deleting wrong stuff but in the end you can just reverify the game and I usually do it so I never really encountered any problems before.

Also -prewarm is optional it's only used when you have game loading issues or map loading issues such as black screen whilst hero picking or screen freezes, it basically loads all the resources from DotA client but it also increases in-game loading time.

I believe there is a -novid command that should disable it too.

Nope that just disables intro video I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about main menu UI, panel or main menu TAB or whatever that is.

No, novid just skips the video.
The 500MB intro video is still being loaded into RAM when you launch the game,
taking 2 minutes for a dual DDR3 memory
