Dota 2 very heavy and FPS dropping during game MacBook Pro
Hey all, I play Dota 2 on MacBook pro 2018 and had never had an issue, but since maybe the last 2-3 weeks my FPS and overall behavious of the game is very poor, my MacBook is getting very hot, the game lags and drops FPS a lot with the same settings I have used for years. Anyone else experiencing that?

They gotta fill up low priority some how
updated to CAtania iOS 10.15.6 , works good as of now,
playing on lowest possible graphics.

Been having the same problem for a couple of weeks.
Turning graphic settings to the minimum kinda fixed it, some games are still messed up but overall it's alright, the game just looks pretty bad.

Macs are sad for gaming lol. I have a $400 AMD Ryzen laptop and it runs games better than a $800+ mac.

An update for those who still use the MBP 13” 2018. after a lot of tweaking these settings work best for me:
Resolution 16:10 -> 2560x1600
Display mode: exclusive fullscreen
API: Vulkan
Advanced settings;
- everything off except for VSync
- texture quality high, effects & shadow low
- game screen render quality 100%
- max fps: 60

It results in very sharp image, without any frame drops. And more important; the laptop doesn’t get too hot.

I've got the same issue with performance.
My Mac is: MBP 2019 i9, 16GB, Video: ATI 560X, SSD
Cooling is configured for a constant (maximum) speed of the fans.

It seems like, it should be enough for a decent perfomance, but even on minimal settings the system quickly heats up and then throttling starts with all the consequences.

I ended up with significantly lowering the resolution down to: 16:10, 1152x720
It seems to be making things better: the GPU temperature went down slightly below 60 C (after the initial 70+ C).

P.S. Looks like a terrible solution tbh. Early 2000 graphics on a still pretty good laptop with such an awful performance issues...
