i had it on the ssd and then moved it to the hdd since i don'tp lay dota that much and it looks like it doesn't affect the game at all, only downside is that it takes like 30 seconds to open the game the first time of the day and 2-3 more seconds for the first match to load
ofc, it also depends on what hdd you have
I think it was more of a fault from your side rather the game, I install most eSports games on the SSD and I never had an issue with that but with that HDD it was much worse due to the very high overhead on the hard drive (I may assume it's related to the age of my hard drive)
Since most games kinda faulty in my SSD but ok in HDD i thought it something worth mentioning
Treat it as like worst-case scenario
I did install CS GO, Dota 2 and League on the SSD and all 3 of them loads perfectly. I didn't have much issues while installing those on the HDD but I had to "pre-load" each one of them to avoid the painfully long loading times.
It was like "Hmm, I'm going to play some CS GO today, Better to preload Mirage and Dust2 before playing"
Not really.. It would be a waste in my honest opinion.. But then again I only play "roles" matchmaking or with friends, so I don't have the need to "load in fast" and yet in most matches people would be loaded before pick anyway
Why not install it on your nvme.............
I don't have NVMe, Hell. I don't have M.2 on my main system as it's a Haswell based system on the 8x series of Intel's chipsets, I believe that the 9x or 10x series did include M.2 slot on the motherboard.
And keep in mind, I did explain a bit how things going on my setup in the next comment
If you don't have an SSD at all, Get it.
I did installed Windows on the SSD and I will never again to install the OS on HDD on any of my systems. Having a faster loading times is so much better than waiting
It depens on your overall system tbh. Without knowing your full spec and how often you "upgrade/buy new pc" its impossible to suggest any advice
intel core-i3 generation 1 2,5ghz, ram 4gb , HDD 500gb, VGA radeon hd 7400 1 GB, windows 10 enterprise 64-bit
FPS medium setting : 40-60 at dota
Unless you want to keep this ancient pc a few more years, I suggest waiting with the ssd until you buy a new one (it would be pointless to upgrade your current setup) You will not gain full advantage off the ssd and you will not see any changes to FPS in games (albeit you will load win up faster and in some games) but your pc will struggle to run most games in the long run and even win.. (4 gb ram no matter the speed on them is a no go)
