why this game is losing popularity ?

Clearly after huge release of dota 2 reborn .. we could say dota 2 reached its peak, and the curve stayed steady for as long as it had , what happened after that is actually the beginning of the end .. more players are quitting , community is becoming doll and sensitive .. the game that holds the record for the biggest prize for Esport is on the verge of losing all of its players ... we are in 2020 , players count has dropped 20-25% , this is not a small percentage gentlemen .

why ? well , alot of moving parts , and there are many aspects maybe I did not think of .But.

what made that happen in my view is :

the drastic unbearable standards of a system they implemented , you can easily go in LP or be banned .. this in particular encouraged many players to misuse the report , many times you may get reported because of your gameplay . however, whether you played good or bad , this goes away when you win . because NOBODY is going to report you when you win .NOW , when a game is a loss you have to expect a report if you got blamed for anything. And if you have happened to be with a teammate who can run his mouth and convince others , then you are DONE welcome to the LP.

I dont know what the solution is , I love the game , I always try to help . even if I saw crucial mistakes I dont report people as long as they are not toxic or feeding .. I try to enjoy.

this has to stop, I dont know how , if this post mean anything I am not sure, I care , I want this game to succeed and live and get more popular . Unfortunately, in its current state I cant say dota 2 will live in the next foreseeable future, and I dont want that to happen.

please save the game , implement better system, and for the community I would say : we are playing to enjoy not to hate one another.

well I know i wanted to try this out. I am not a Dota 2 experienced player at all and played the Blizzard's Baby version Heroes of the storm but the weapon system etc that I read about this game intrigued me so I was thinking about downloading it and giving a go.

Went here to the community hub and read some post and most of them seems like a lot of people are really just angry..about everything.

Then after reading the OP above about players getting reported for anything and especially if the game doesn't go right I think I might just stay way so I do not work hard, get better then out of the blue get banned for being a newbie learning to play. I will stay clear for now so I do not step on toes of the over serious life and die players.

dota 2 is still doing great if you compare it to other esports genres like fighting games. the moba-genre in general lost on popularity, im only playing this game right now because of my ranking addiction, the games in ranking are just to intense and are giving me the adrenaline and dopamine i need

Its fairly simple when you play in ranked games, Know what you are doing.
If you dont, people will get mad at you.

People get angry when they lose mmr because they want to rank up and get out of that hell hole.
If they dont rank up, they will continue to lose mmr and stay in that hell hole and cant get any quality games or enjoyable ones because of people not knowing what to do.

no, reborn is where they started killing it.
people were pissed off by it.

at the same time, they started chanign the map every 2 patches after years that it was untouched and people bragged about it, because this signle old map was already perfect and enough.
and then they started doing and undoing balancing changes really fast that affected ranked (we used to have a test client for that...), see the movement speeds moved ti % for boots and ammount for items, then the rollback, tp cost going up and down, and lot of other similar ♥♥♥♥.

and now, we get compendiums that don't fund anything (like if 25% was that much), is basicaly a pay to get stuff with some extra steps to make people go play heroes they hate and can't play to ♥♥♥♥ up games, and they sell the boundle before releasing more than half of the content of the boundle...

This is again a very solo queue minded „Dota2 is dieing“ thread. The fight against the own team dominates over the fight against the opponent team. No wonder that gives a quite different perspective on the game. Since a while Valve tries to correct their mistake with introducing solo and party mmr in ranked matchmaking. They still struggle with the high amount of dedicated solo players which prefer to queue with random strangers in matches without any mutual obligations and complain afterwards that it is just this.

Let us include the "adulting" variable. In my age, most of my friends quit dota, because they just become adults. no time to play. more time to work and family 1st. so all in all, old people the comprises the "peak" now getting old.. the problem now is that, How can we recruit more fresh meat to replace the old generation, when there are more MOBA games to compete with dota nowadays. I guess more people don't know this, but on my perspective, you did not realize this. stop looking at the technicalities, they are doing it's job, it is being address. it's just a matter of time, in which this would be a HISTORY game, as we head towards the future. we are getting older, and we need new "next in line" generation to keep DOTA 2 alive until we get the age of 92.

People like competitive games..

This game is no longer competitive..
Any idiot with money can buy a divine 5 star account, and start ruining everyone else´s games..
A divine 5 account costs like 50 euros so its even cheaper than a battlepass and a few levels..
These accounts were made by some sorts of bots that use cheats..
This game is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke that only wants to steal your money, and does not care about if you enjoy it or not..

Gaben is a money hungry ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and he should be put out of business.

At some point people stop letting valve beeing abuse them and simple deinstall game.

100% agree.
Also no regional server locks and no punishment for role abusers or trolls or account buyers..
i got 1 of my accs 9 month banned for no reason except playing the broken game and dealing with the Russian idiots playing in Eu West servers..

Meanwhile 10 000 Russian kids bought Divine 5 star accounts for some Rubels equaling 40 euros and infested all the servers of the world. And lost every single game they played and ended up to herald accounts in 1 month.. Also reporting everyone they played with they caused many people to lose rank and get low priority. But hey.. Why should Valve give a ♥♥♥♥? They should not.. Just give them your money, and get ♥♥♥♥♥♥! And after that the kids bought another sets of 10 000 divine 5 star accounts and did the same again.. And if you met them in your game and said "can you speak English" they said back to you " ♥♥♥♥ you Americanski Cyka" and reported you..

And of course no sane person would play a game that is this broken and does not give a ♥♥♥♥ about the community since the creation of the game.
