Attention ... now a days everyone just wants to update social media instead of doing what they should do
Well, even if only half the cases are true his reputation is shattered allready. Multiple Casters and (I think) some organisations allready parted ways from Tobi so his career seems to be done anyways. And as far as many comments on such posts say Tobi seems to have been acting wrong regularly. There seem to have been multiple cases of him making rascist comments or some accusations of him haveing gone to far towards some women.
I guess atm it's just the sign of valve that they part ways with all the casters that get accused of one thing or another. Depending on how the next days go they may be able to add some of those voice lines later on again while stating, that many of those voicelines are connected to special moments within Dotas Turnement history and will therefore be added again. But still we need to see how all this keeps going the next days or even weeks. I even have the bad feeling Toby will not be the last one whos dark background gets revealed (or as in this case the bad rumors will be proven true).
Gotta agree to that. From all the cases that came to light the last few days I think only one or two against Grant have had the police involved or even gone to court.
Those things today are definetly only to ruin the persons reputation and to just speak about the ♥♥♥♥ that took play. And as a person who got bullied into depression some years ago too I can understand the need to just want to be able to speak up just for the sake of being able to doing so. While on the other hand there is allways some fear that holds someone back of saying such stuff in the open.
And Twitter is espacially in the esports scene a common communication subject, so its no wonder they all go over it, because on Twitter it is assured that everyone gets to know what happned. It may not be the best platform to solve the problems, but for their way of just saying what happened it's definetly an easier way to do so. I think most of the victims (let aside how many of them actually are legit) are not here for any legal outcomes.
And as why they come to say such stuff so late, sometimes many years after it happened. I guess to have heard, that many people who have gone through some kind of sexual harassment much rather close up and make themselfes accountable for what happened. Espacially as some of the cases that came to light now again where allready called upon by the victims to some extend, but either noone believed them or they even got harassed or bullied by the community for such accusations without further proove. So it isn't that rare to have victims of such stuff never speak up. Only after one comes to do so it happens that more people get over the barrier and speak out what happened.
Warning to people:
Behave in rl.
Toby Dawson aka "TobiWan" tweeted "I am aware that I have committed some horrible actions in the past and I wish to atone for them. If I have not reached out to you, please reach out to me and I will listen and acknowledge. My twitter DMs are open for you"
It's pretty gamergate of you to blame his victims when he admitted himself to doing horrible things to them.
For people who are the perpetrators of sexual harassment and assault, it's often easy for them to rationalize that the victim wants it. It's a pretty common trope that they "were asking for it."
Basically I kinda prefer the innocent until proven guilty method over the "believe everything someone accuses another of doing".
Not to mention there's a track record of people consenting to acts only to regret it later before pulling the "i was abused" card online instead of reporting it to the police like any sane person would do.
Well, both Grant and Tobi has admitted to doing terrible things. Grant said he was sorry for what he had done, and Tobi himself said he had done terrible things. What those things are we might never get a clear picture of. That is enough for most people. And since this is not a court of law but public opinion "innocent until proven guilty" is irrelevant. We know they have done something and for public opinion, that is more than enough. They can take their business elsewhere.
