Note that -high forces the game to have maximum CPU priority. I haven't had any problems with it, but your mileage may vary if you're playing on a weaker machine or have a lot of programs open at once. -novid, on the other hand, is awesome. Another universally useful command is -mapdota, which causes Dota to load the map during the launch phase, rather than when you enter a game. Speeds up loading during actual matches and can potentially reduce the chances of the nasty 'black screen bug'.
