Is 11K gold too much farming for hard support?
Hi everyone

I'm asking this because sometimes I hear people laughing/complaining when they see me farming as hard support Crystal Maiden. Usually I farm about 11K gold during a won match, and 7-8K for a lost one. My normal purchases are:

Tranquil Boots (to stay longer in lane and be more active in teamfights) - 975
Ring of Basilius (to spam spells more often, also for my laning partner) - 375
Blink Dagger (to initiate fights or catch running enemy) - 2250
Drum of Endurance - 1900
Mekansm (to heal dying ally) - 1875
Vladmir's Offering or Pipe of Insight (depending on enemy team) - 2100/2775
Wards, Smoke of Deceit, Dust of Appearance - 1500~1800

It's 11~12K gold in total. I seem to have no way to afford them without farming occasionally.
Please, fellow hard supports, tell how much you farm during a match. Are hard supports supposed to do 0 farming?

Thanks in advance

You farm when there is nothing else to do and there is a free spot. For pos 5 that means effectively never.

Get your gold from ganks. Leave jungle to cores.

I never get the chance to farm these items whenver i played 5, does that mean im bad?
and i usually get glimmer or force staff rather than those 2 items as a 5 cm

those who laughing at you seem like lower archon, anyway support also need farm especially they need some defensive item. Just need to find some spot or opportunity.

Hi, would you share your experience, how much gold do you normally get during entire match as pos 5?

CM has a medium gpm of 300 almost independent from skill bracket. For a 40 min game that makes 12000 gold. Thus, with 11000 you are not far away from this average.

Which is why you should never solo support in ranked.
If the match goes bad early, there's nothing you can do to influence it since you're 'suppose' to be forfieting all the gold to everyone else. This is in regards to buying items to exploit an enemy team's MVP. So Troll looses a lot of his viability if hit with Spirit Vessel but nobody else on the team cares to buy one.

Hard Supports technically aren't suppose to be getting kills either. The rest of the team need the gold more.

If you watch any of GameLeap's channel, his personal pet peeve is "Supports shouldn't farm". If you want to go up in MMR as a Support, you NEED to farm so you can have impact. That doesn't mean you steal camps from your carry; there are plenty of ways to get farm without being a thief. Use your spells to nuke the ranged creep and the enemy offlaner at the same time. Stack and pull the jungle. Push lanes that no one else is in. Stack camps on the minute mark. Prioritize picking Supports with an AoE nuke like Maiden or Treant (Meteor Hammer). Ogre is an especially fun case. Rush a Midas, take your Ignite and Damage talents, push out lanes your carry is ignoring, and enjoy having more farm than your mid.

CM has a built in Basi with level 1 aura for herself, might as well get an early headdress instead for better health sustain for you and your laning partner.

unless you're actually having troubles with hp on lane, but that doesn't happen like most of the times because as I said, cm would kill most doubles in earlygame if used right. Maxing 2-3 and just spamming it on enemies is the easiest way to own the lane (or 1-3 if enemies have no escapes or stuns) And getting heal for cm only since she's very thin. I'd even recommend anyone to spam cm as a support to rankup because of that, although that doesn't matter if a person doesn't understand how the game works. I'd say most of my games as CM started with 5-0 or something like it, broken hero.
I don't know why you're responding to me when I was replying to OP that if they're gonna get a small aura item they'd might as well get a headdress instead of basi since her aura gives mana.

the standard CM build is
2 bracers boots then blink then bkb. that is how you win.

You listed a bunch of extra cost items that don't do damage and therefore you shouldn't be getting them they include pipe, mekanism etc.

the whole problem with the "support role" that people have an impression of is that you have to get certain items because your core players are so bad that they need your help to not feed. The answer is that they shouldn't feed and that they should play correctly rather than trying to force bad situations like.... that one player who gets the agis and dies twice just because they wanted to use it.... yes when you buy "support" items for morons like that it won't help improve their game, they'll still play like garbage and feed AND try and blame anyone but themselves for it. All the barracks will be down and the game would be over for a full 5 mins and then at the end these kind of D-bags complain about "no wards" ... no sht the games been over for 5 mins and they just roshed because they have megas.

You are the low skill guy who played a jungling support sniper, and then was surprised when you got reported. You should probably not use the forum as much as everything you say is just silly.
BossGalaga Mar 25, 2020 @ 11:45am
If you're going blink dagger for initiation then you really need BKB because one stun makes your ult worthless and then you're immediately dead. Or at the very least a glimmer cape so they have to ward/dust if they can't just simply wait out your 5 second invis. So at that point, if your farm is an issue for your other cores then you have to ask yourself are you a support or a core? Grabbing available farm is okay as long as you're not taking camps from your cores or missing out on teamfights and pushes or otherwise doing so at the expense of your teammates.
