Dota 2
EYE STRAIN BECAUSE OF PLAYING DOTA 2
I'm a regular computer user and my eyes don't get strained by regular computer
use. However, while playing Dota it is a completely different story.

Dota has a lot of flashy animations, at one moment the screen is blank but when
ES, Omni guardian angel, when player levels up etc these small flashy animations
that turn the screen brightness from 10 to 100% leave me somewhat blind
sighted.

If I play more than 2 games then my eyes are completely red because of these animations.

Because of this reason I had to quit playing the game or my eyes will get all
red.

My pupils can't adjust to these flashes and I had to stop playing unfortunately.

The part of the screen that flashes is almost invisible to me for a few milliseconds until the flash is over.

Is there any way by which I can disable small golden/while/silver flashes that
happen at throughout entire game so the screen brightness will remain constant
and my pupils can adjust without getting red.

I looked at first Dota 2 releases that had extremely dark animations, it looks
easy on eyes is there any way to bring this extremely dark art-style back again to
play with latest patch with flashy animation disabled.

Also I find it impossible to identify heroes that use flashy arcanas, these
flashes render me blind, are there any extremely dark character models that I
can apply to make them more easy on my eyes.

Thanks.

In short: I want a setting by which I can make entire gameplay consistently dark throughout the game with no flashes so my pupils won't have to adjust often and it might relieve eye strain and I will be able to play for longer duration.
My monitor contrast and brightness is set to 15/100.
I will try adjusting the GPU settings as well, but I don't think it will help.

I just wish that these flashy animations can be permanently disabled so my eyes won't get strained.

Turn your graphic settings down if the contrast thing doesnt help.

Ok I will try the graphics card settings and see how it works in a few days and get back to this thread.

Look up screen filters and/or seek medical help. Your symptoms are not normal and you need advice.

I did show this to a doctor and he told me its allergic reaction because of weakening of the eyes.

The forum doctor. Well, Im glad you made a thread call. I've been having this pain, in my traps. It might be because I've increased the weight i have been lifting but im not sure.

What do you suggest I do?

Have you tried screen filters? They may help reduce the glare..

Hey man, first as you did reduce your monitor's lightness, then I'd highly suggest to see an eye's specialist.

Also I recommend you to download f.lux, it's an app you can configure to reduce your monitor's general lightness, constrast and all that stuff. It also adapts according to the time so your monitor is less flashy during nightimes.

I've been using f.lux for a while, it really does help reduce eye strain by filtering out blue light. Try that and see if it helps. If not, probably best trying to see a doctor.
I started having eye allergy after using f.lux a-lot, I'm allergic to yellow color my eyes can't handle yellow flashes for some reason. f.lux makes the screen more yellow and more eye allergies.

Have you tried the daltonian mode?

Otherwise you definitely need to see a specialist, not a general practitioner. I don't know how old you are, but you might have long-term issues by getting older, and potentially become blind. My father almost lost his 2 eyes, and the moment you start loosing vision is irrecoverable.

Take care man it's very important!

Thanks for the advise, it is better if I stay away from games then.

Disable particles, bloom, any lighting stuff in the advanced graphics options.

Reduce the brightness of the monitor. 100 brightness strains the eye so much.
