People that played when Dota was beta, years ago, have the test client. No other way around, I guess. I think I could try it by using my sister account, but then I would need to download the whole thing. I guess I'm going to just wait. It's just a day after all.

When I downloaded Dota 2 for the first time, the test client just appeared in my library. Maybe try looking under DLC or Dota tools.

no dice. nothing to install in the DLC folder. but checking my shared account with my sis, doto test client is there.
