Dota 2
Dota Strategy Game
tbh i'm tired of crappy teammates, and at this point i literally wish i could just play the game solo, vs another person. my skill vs his skill.

i honestly think it would be legit if dota released a strategy game based off dota itself.
where you draft vs another players' draft, and just like dota, there are laning phases, from a bird's eye spectator view, you would be able to command the heroes on what you want them to do. (basically strategically control each lane.) with also the ability to zoom in and click on a hero and play as him for a limited time. (maybe do this for each lane?) for example if the enemy is controlling his hero, you can then click on your hero and try to outplay him.

after playing strategy games for awhile, some games have this feature, where you from a general perspective play as a general or w/e, then you manually control the battles, etc. i'm not saying they need to copy that, but i think my version of it would go along a lot smoother and the skill gap would be more apparent and the people would deserve the ranks they get, instead of relying on 4 other people to "win" or "lose" some solo mmr.

Well ask a copy from one of older friends and see for yourself. Warcraft 3 and frozen throne are classic masterpieces.

I wish they do a map like 5 lanes where 1 in each so to avoide toxicity.
wouldn't stop someone from coming to ur lane to troll your exp/farm. happens all the time to me mid.

i have... lol
but when you grow up on nothing but single player games, then discover mmorpg's ... obviously a neverending game like mmorpg would keep my interest more. but i eventually found dota in 2014.
(being born in the 80's i've literally experienced every generation of gaming)
but as a kid i loved chess, strategy, outsmarting my opponent, i loved games like command & conquer red alert...
i've come across games like this from time to time but, they're all single player. beating ai doesn't make me feel good, even the "multiplayer" mode is fun for awhile, but it's not competitive.

now in my late 30's i feel basically done with gaming, i don't play shooters anymore, i've uninstalled literally thousands of $ worth of games, but i guess this is what being an adult is like...

but in dota... it's different. i might not be 10k b/c i suck at farming, but drafting wise, and strategic wise i can easily predict the movements of the enemies, items they build (and what's needed to counter them/it) the times the enemies carrys will come online, the timings on their items... literally .. i can even predict when the enemies are roshing 99% of the time and when i use the scan it's typically right on.

but i'm sick of these teammates solo queue gives me, none listen... like ever... "fight under the tower" and when the enemies get close to the tower, what do they do? they run blink distance out from the tower and start the fight there.... it's like why... .. why are u doing this. i literally have 2 chat wheel windows full of commands praying my team will remotely listen to me.
but what gets me the most is when they dont push... 15min in, we wipe the enemy at their t2's and it just blows my mind to see them run into the jungle and i'm sitting there spamming "push now, push now" i look at the timers and they got like 20 or 30 seconds til they respawn, and i see a heavy hitter and a pusher teammate on my team and no one pushes... it's just... *pew, mind blown* yes...... go jungle....

or even better, when teammates ignore my draft suggestions, last pick sits on axe, they pick a troll warlord and lifestealer, i recommend ursa, he picks axe... as a safelane hard carry...
my pick counters both those heroes, but instead he counterpicks himself... and this is ranked.

i know i'm not a 10k player, and i accept the fact that i'm bad with flashfarmers (i've even spent thousands of hours watching youtube videos on flash farmers and practicing them, only to realize, no matter how much i practice, i will never have the agility of a 16yr old dota player. i'm almost 40.. i'm getting arthritis in my hands/wrists, and knees. my back hurts all the time, dude.. i'm old. i might type like a 15yr old and personality wise, i've never had to grow up b/c i never had any kids to yell at, but my body dude, is telling me i'm old.
but i keep playing dota b/c i'm addicted to the strategy part of the game, though alot of people dont put a lot of thought into dota, they just pick w/e they want, farm as fast as they can then either feed or kill the enemy team, ...

i know i typed a lot and you probably wont bother reading all of it, but i was basically trying to describe my play style:
i'm not allowed to mid often but when i am, my playstyle shines the brightest.
match id: 4609067124
the reason i picked this specific game wasn't b/c of my score, but how i played the game. i killed mid a few times dominating it, i then began to play around the runes. after draft phase was over my team was like "well fk we got outdrafted" and from any perspective... yea u'd think that would be true, i was like "sniper, let me have mid and i'll snowball and win us the game", they ofcourse at first doubted me, but eventually just let me have it b/c they already gave up at this point (the ck pick scared them b/c we had no real way to deal with illusions, other than bb)
once i killed mid a couple times, i started playing around the runes, rune's up, time to gank bot, double kill, (hide for a min, the enemy comes bot again, kill them again) hey the rune's up time to go get it, then i go back mid, kill mid, use a shrine refill mana, go kill top, hey runes are back up, and i kept going top/bot .. etc...
^ this example is typically how i DONT play, but my team felt like they needed a snowball'er to win, so i did it.
when i see other players playing predictable like that, i kill them. i will always rotate to the lane they're rotating in, and also i'll make sure they never get the runes as well. but from a strategic point i did what was needed to win.
^ the reason i don't spam this hero mid and just snowball my way to 5k
is b/c she's not a hero who can solo carry the team on her back,
match id: 4626400807 <------- here's 1 example... oh look it's the game where i told guy to pick ursa but he picked axe instead
match id: 4574837466
match id: 4572171768
match id: 4571395360

actually out of my last 20 dw games, i have more losses, than wins and i typically have double/triple my kills than deaths, but she sucks at pushing towers pre-25, and you cant force afk farmers to push if they don't feel like it.

my last game tho, was a pl mid.. and i didn't feel like buying boots. i went 2/3/2/3/2/4/2/3/3 skill build and i literally chased down whoever i wanted. i also decided to not build a diffusal, and just to test out other things on pl. match id: 4627346158 it was a turbo game =P but whoever came mid, i'd kill.
i guess in the end, i dont like playing hard carrys, b/c they require typically too much gold to be relevent in a game, and basically need to KS to even have a semi-decent networth (tho as 1st position, it's their god-given right to KS all they want, rofl)
it also goes the same with some mids, to be relevent they need too much farm IMO it's why i dont play them. i'm ofcourse referring to flash farming heroes, typically you dont see invokers join the party until they have a midas + aghs and some form of boots. sf usually atleast gets a euls or sb before he comes out to play, while on puck, i can make ppl explode at only lv6... idk ... i like my heroes =( but... i realize that is one of the reasons i'm losing, is b/c i dont pick meta heroes.. like viper.

Your post reminded me of Warcraft 3, just as I had forgotten about Reforged, so thanks for that. Tbh I can't wait for Reforged. It's also a nice bonus to see what dota would look like with new graphics.

Well I read it all just from respect for someone even older then me.
What I think, is that you miss one important part of DotA. You already think what items to pick depending on situation. You have map awareness and objective understanding.
What I think you should concentrate on is metagaming. It is part of dota. I think you see concept of counter picking natural. You see brood? Need axe, Sven or timber. Medusa? Antimage, lion, bane. Storm, cm, nigma, wd? Silencer.
You need to start studying what makes up current meta. What style is overpowered now. 5- Manning? Teamfight? Splitting? Gankinng? See which one prevail in enemy team and try to counter it with your pick. From countering single hero to countering team composition. Also lerning new heroes is fun, so perhaps you find interesting playing meta heroes, and eventually will have enough impact to win games even with subpar teammates. In the end, they do become better with mmr.

Also my post about single player games was addressed to guy higher, who suggested to try artificially lower toxicity of people who want to be toxic and don't want to play DotA(5 lanes). It wouldn't work like that.
*thumbs up*
