DOTA 2 is using TOO MUCH internet!!!!

i played 3 games of dota 2 and 1gb data was finished!!!. i installed internet meter lite to check my data usage while playing. and it reached upto freaking 1mbps!!!!. And this was causing my game to reach ping upto 1000ms. how the ♥♥♥♥ are we suppose to play?
we will need unlimited and super fast internet to play properly which is like buying iphone in india. seriously gaben and steam u destroyed a Good old game. now I have to uninstall and playsomething else.

Sorry to say..that what online game does..it used your internet..there no such things are TOO MUCH, its all the same..in every online game.

If you use less internet or somehow cap it down..then you get a lagged or a disconnection.

If you have limited bandwidth then Dota 2 is not a game for you. If you want to play Dota 2 then I suggest you go to an internet cafe or some place with free internet.

"Gaben and steam" did not destroy a good old game. Modern online gaming, especially role playing games, require a decent amount of data and bandwidth. If you can't afford that data then you need to adjust your gaming habits. You could always play a good ole Nintendo or Super Nintendo which were released before gaming was destroyed by Gaben as you say and they both use zero bandwidth.

It's only less 80MB for a game that less than 60 minutes (exclude update).

So i don't know how the hell you can get that kind of calculation.

Also, can i ask you 1 question? Did you use it for something else like playing Youtube / watching p**n while playing Dota?

I pay an arm and a leg to get the internet that suits my needs. What I don’t do is go running out and getting the latest iPhone every year and paying a crazy amount of money.

I dont think so. I played Dota2 on mobile limited data whole past 3 months, 1 match of dota took 100-150 megabytes. You have some unrelated data drains and I can 100% confirm dota2 1 match does not take more data than this. Also keep in mind mobile tethering uses double the data, which means my 100-150 megabytes was actually half spent, in case you have some ISP plan thats limited, 1 match of dota without hotspot is less than 100 megabytes.
