(MAC) Command+Q quitting the game after the new update.
How do I make this control NOT quit the game. I've had this command since I started playing (1 year ago) without any problem, but after the update, this command quits the game. PLS HELP

1. Create a new keyboard shortcut in Settings by clicking the plus icon (as before).
2. Click the select program dropdown and scroll down to the very bottom - select other.
3. Now make sure you have the Dota 2 app in the Dock, if not, just run the game via Steam.
4. Then cmd + click the Dota 2 icon in the dock - this will show the actual app (dota2.app) in finder.
5. Drag the app from finder onto the window you have open in the settings app - dota2.app will now be selected.
6. Add shortcut "Close" and set it to something else like: cmd + shift + w

Thats it - enjoy!

The above method can be used to add the Quit Dota 2 under dota2.app as well to if you like and this time dota2.app will already be selected in the dropdown :)

Special thx to my good friend and epic mac user @lyret you helped with this solution! <3

You should change key combination for Quit Dota 2 in settings->keyboard to cmd+alt+ctr+q for example

This worked for me as well thx! The name needs to be exactly "Quit Dota 2" - combination can be anything really.

This is perfect it works! But now I have another problem Command + W is closing my dota as well how do I turn that off?

Hey similar to above, I created a keyboard shortcut to disable Command + W function, due to the new update for the 2019 battle pass.

1) Create a keyboard shortcut called "Close" and use an alternate shortcut you'd like, apply to all applications.

NOTE: This may impact other applications and if you use cmd+w for other apps, then this fix might not work well with you. I could't get it to work when labelling it "Close Dota 2".
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

So the names should be "Close" and "Quit Dota 2", to sum it up.
Thanks guys!

This is not a viable workaround for me as when I try to write the shortcut for the Dota 2 app, the OS gives me the message 'You cannot create shortcuts for Dota 2.app'.

Is there another workaround? Thanks.

Alright guys so i found another way which is more easier and works on the latest version of OsX. Instead of searching for the csgo app when you ad a new shortcut, just let "every app", but make sure in the title of your shortcut to write "Quit csgo_osx64" or the name of your csgo app that u can find when u start the game and put your mouse in the left high corner (does not work on full screen). Then write another command (like command + M) and it's done !

it's really important you do step 4 and 5! I've done it on multiple computers and it works every time!

This one works for Catalina. Though CS:GO app is displayed as full name, just write the title "Quit csgo_osx64" with the capitalised Q. I even used cmd + M to honour this reply and have been so happy so far!

Great! But how do I apply this to both CMD+Q and CMD+W? The name "Quit Dota 2" can only be applied to one shortcut.

Solved by adding another shortcut using "Close".
