DOTA 2 LITE?
I was planning to reinstall this game someday after watching some TI streams on TV. However I heard Dota 2 now takes over 25GB of data after transitioning to Source 2 engine (where dafuq 20GB comes from?). Then I got an idea for the Lite version of the game to make it run on most PCs.

The Lite version is literally the main game with the core mechanics still in tact, however minus skins (in a form of icon) retaining their original models, mods, and high texture setting. If possible, the game size will be originally at 2GB or 5GB. Dota 2 Lite can be crossplay with the main game except other modes.

Do you guys think this is a good idea to benefit most players?

it's a good idea actually, making the non-core data (skins, terrains, voice pack, etc.) as a separate dlc looks like a possible situations, and no, it's not about crying over such big data in 2019, it's about questionable data we don't actually needed (who the f own all kinds of skins anyway)

and one more thing, making it that way will invite more players to try out the game, bcs they wont waste much time downloading un-needed stuff and can proceed to play in shorter time, and if they like it, they will stay and download the rest of data.

Any chance of the performance on the game rising?

buy a better pc.it only uses about 20% of a dx12 pc,s resources. hence dota lite already exists.

So basically, a new version but without the features that valve make their profit from? Idk if they'd be into that, understandably

Problem is in MOBA's many players buy skins just to showoff and these peoples would hated if you couldnt see their skins.

For me it is good idea if it can allow for space save and performance on low end machines is not bad either.

Well there is likely Spring cleaning updated down the road, that is usually tied to performance update as well.

The store will be there along with items and loots, however all in a form of icons rather than a full model to keep the game data minimum.

You need it because the game will freak out if you play against/watch someone using cosmetics you don't have the files for.
