What's your price range? And have you considered some options already?

My price range is between 300-400$ USD, and not more then that. Im searching for older laptops and i have a dell 3000 series in view, with 960M but its very overpriced, at 500 dollars.
still looking for options. i have an option, an old MSI latop with 660M, but i dont know whether it will run dota 2 at Ultra or not. if it didnt, my money will be wasted.

The problem with the laptop is that older doesn't have "real" graphic card installed.
It's in most cases just a graphic chipset that shares RAM with main Motherboard and because of that there's a huge gap between preformance.

Search for anything with at least 4 cores (might be 8 threads)
8GB RAM DDR4 at least. If you want search for a laptop with SSD
This really helps with DOTA, and Graphic card with at least 2gb
And if you don't want to buy ROG Laptops then don't count on ultra details.

Sure, I checked the specifications. It's quite good gear, go for it.

It's pretty decent for the buck. You could also look at other "gaming" Dells. Because they have cheap materials and no fancy gaming fluff, those are pretty cheap. Also ones with amd graphics are cheaper. Inspiron series is decent. Though amd cards can be pain in the ass driver wise. Oh, and Lenovo usually cheap because of no brand recognition, but again cheap materials. Can point you to some particual models if you still looking.

Look for laptops with a GTX750/GTX950/1050 "_" you should enjoy those quite a lot. or GTX 1660s
im using an intel i5 3210 and gt640 to run vulkan -

Bare in mind aside from lack of upgrading its near impossible to perform preventative maint on the laptop like thermal paste... After a year or two thermal paste is shot especially on a hot laptop. What youre buying is someones burned up trash thats considerably slower then it used to be and a harddrive with minimal life left in it.

From my own experience. I tried play using asus rog strix hero 3 https://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-ROG-Strix-Hero-III-G731GW-Review-a-colorful-laptop-with-compromises.427678.0.html and after 7-8 hours it is getting real hot and mess with the performance a bit. I play on my pc with the same specs. After 11-12 hours it is still cool because of the watercooling and the good exhaust system. So if i may recommend. Use a pc it will last longer than a laptop.

Vulkan is incredible compared to any directX trash. Use it.

If youre looking for small form PC.. Go Micro ATX and add a low profile 1650 or 1650super. 1650s run off pcie no power input needed... Pair it with a cheap portable screen. Bam you got a upgradable maintainable small pc. Which'll have better thermals and desktop performance.

Laptop.. I have a Rog Strix with 1070 + samsung evo ssd.... It gets VERY hot on Apex, Roe, Pubg ect... Dota it runs fine. Its capped at 75fps because thats what the monitor is designed for.

My gf is using the ROG as her desktop's 1060 died... I used it when i was in hospital after lung collapse... Aside from that i wish i never bought it.

If you want a mobile device get a ipad. Otherwise just get a Desktop PC.

If you get a desktop PC get a new gen i7, i9 or Ryzen. 1650 Super or 1660ti and above.
1650supers will have Nvenc chip NOT 1650 normal model... 1660s -20xx series will have Nvenc ships also.... Zero benifit to get 1070s or 1080s nowadays

So Amd cpus are doing great buuut youll want a Nvidia Gfx card souly for the Nvenc chip unless you are setup to dual PC stream with NDI output.

Best buy has rigs either with a ideal gfx card and lower cpu or a rig with a good Cpu and no gfx card... With a budget of 1200-1400 you can have a FANTASTIC streaming/gaming/art pc and enough money to purchase a $150 144hz monitor(which i rec msi or asus as many budget brands at 150 have poor color gamut)... If you do artword get a IPS display. I use a Mag24c VA panel which has been good for art also.(i also use a cintiq hd13 for art not just monitor)

December is the best and worst time to shop electronics as theyre slashing prices to move inventory to create space for the updated model ect coming soon.
