So, uh, how do you counter Void Spirit?
This isn't a "complain about the op hero" thread. It's a serious question. I've played maybe twenty matches in the new patch. Almost all them had Void Spirit in them. Most of the time he was first-picked, which for any other core should mean it's easy to counter him.

But I can't for the life of me find out what beats him. I've tried Silencer, but Void can dodge his ult. Or kill you in two hits before you get it off. Tried BS, which went okay. But I had to burn all of my resources killing Void, and in the meantime he'd killed both my supports.

Tried FV, and the game was over before I got going. Same with PA. Did okay with AM, but again, I had to expend so much to kill him that his team had tons of time to kill my team. And if I didn't focus him, then he'd blitz down both supports and we'd be 3v5 again.

So, does anyone have an ACTUAL tip for drafting/playing cores against Void Spirit? I'm completely out of ideas, and I'm tired of stomping (with him) and getting stomped (by him).

—Oh, and most of these games were over before 30 minutes. I know that Void Spirit DOES eventually fall off compared to other carries. But I can't seem to survive long enough to reach that point.

NS,any hard disabler like lion,SS,SK(instant cast animations),SD,oracle(purges shield and disruption gives time for the team to react),nyx assassin, juggernaut, storm spirit, even pudge. All are good counters which mess up his initiation and either force him back or kill him on the spot

It's not a "git gud" argument, it's a serious answer.

1st - how the hell he can Dodge silencers ult? How the hell he is able to hit you? If silence is what you need from silencer hide in trees or on the fountain and just look at void to cast your ult while he is hitting for example or don't expect a thing. Seriously, global range, 0,3 sec cast time, work through bkb.

2-nd let's look for direct counters - skywrath mage will exterminate him with long range quick point silence and bug magical burst.

3 lion, shadow shaman hexes are instant too. Just get blink and get one core to deal damage after your initiation. Shaman with shackles and ult maybe kill him solo.

4 void spi... I meant void faceless. Just put the Chrono on all the portals, or get a sh blade and put it directly.

5 carries with basher. But it is later. Also carry with survivability, so he cannot nuke them. Carries with good escapes, but that's less reliable

Void Spirit can dodge Silencer ulti because of his portal skill that phases him out of the world for a decent amount of time, and afaik his ulti also makes him invulnerable and spell immune while in motion, unsure if that's also a phase.

Because half of Void Spirit's abilities are movement based, long roots are probably the strongest type of disable vs him. Meepo, Naga and Troll nets, Puck ulti, Slark Pounce, Treant ulti, CM Frostbite, Oracle Fortunes End, LD's Bear, and multiple Rods of Atos will easily shut him down in fights, at least until he can nab a BKB.

most hero who can chase any spirit is good , just dont stand him alone early game nuke damage hurt and he can easily escape so no point harrassing him, just ignore him and wait for team gank
he's just like puck imo

I have 100% wr vs that hero with sky , doesn't matter if he has bkb or linken if u are faster with your hands he is a free kill all game long, unless he has a perfect support then things get rough.Only time when that hero gives me a hard time is if his support doesn't let him die

i personally start to spam void, what held me back so hard is riki (specifically riki with basher/diffusal in late early - mid game) cm, underlord, ember (this one the hardest), ta (coz u can't nuke her) and LC (if she had amazing support) been playing for only 10 games tho

Okay, some good suggestions here. Troll, Naga, LD, Sky (a little shaky, imo), Pudge, core Riki, and TA all sound good. Troll and LD especially sound good, now that Troll is immortal in his ult and the bear has 2x the root chance.

I tried a lot of LC, and b1pz is right. You need a good support and good farm to match Void Spirit's mid-game impact. It's a 50/50 chance.

Thanks guys!

buy dota + , it shows you what you can pick to counter and synergize with your team. it always changes based on the meta, so an answer now would possibly be wrong in the next micro-hotfix.

Just do skywrath, rush Rod of Atos and pwn him. He has shield that protects from physical dmg :)

DotA+ only shows you the average success rates of heros when drafted with others across all games at your skill level. It by no means indicates whether a hero is good with those heroes or not, just that players succeed less with that hero in that matchup on average. Some heroes have low winrates across the board at some skill levels because they're harder to play, like Earth Spirit.

however, when you pick those green ^ you often dominate, going like 30-0 when you follow the builds, versus when you random, pick a neutral, or red v.

For any OP hero I like so much building Vyse. Disables skills AND items (only counterable by Aeon Disk) + a lil' bit of slow, so you have time to burst him. Try Vyse + Bloodthorn.
