Randomly received a ban message?
I haven't played this game in over a year and today I received a Steam notification stating I was banned? Could someone please help me understand this?

just ignore the losers. they are not banned so they wont get it or think 'maybe' it might be wrongly imposed, such simple minds. let them continue to play with their cosmetics until the end of times. they cant play dota for ♥♥♥♥ anyway

Out of the hundreds of people claiming to be falsely banned on the forums, only about 0.1% of them have actually been false. Since that's the case, it's no surprise that people instantly suspect that these people making these posts are lying.

By the way, one look at his Dotabuff and you can see that out of his last 50 matches, he abandoned 12 times. He also appears to be a feeder/troll, since a large portion of his match history has ended in him having very low kill counts and high death counts. You can also see that a lot of the matches his end-game inventory is empty, which means he either sold or denied his items sometime in the middle of the match.

So no, he is not wrongfully banned. In my experience here, he has one of the most toxic match histories I've ever seen.

Enjoy your ban OP. You earned it.

12 abandons in 50 games? that's one of the criteria to get permabanned. Stop ruining the game for others. Valve does banwaves periodically, and your account did not improve its standing in time.

Also notice how his inventory is empty at the end of a lot of his matches and his K/D in matches is extremely bad. He's probably a person that gets triggered after someone makes one mistake and either feeds or AFKs in fountain after denying his items.

Because it happens in waves. Notice how you didn't deny you were a toxic piece of ♥♥♥♥ a year ago, but rather you think it's unfair that you got banned after all this time. Your last match resulted in an abandon (according to Dotabuff), so you probably got your ban then and it just applied today.

Once again, you are paying the price for being a toxic troll who abandons, denies items, and/or feeds because you feel like it.

Bro, Relax. Never once said it was unfair. I'm asking about the timing.

No, because then you wouldn't have been punished for your actions based on how it worked out. If you got a 6 month ban right after you played your last match, you wouldn't have even known you were banned and you wouldn't have learned your lesson. The ban gets applied the next time you get on for the sole purpose of not being able to essentially unintentionally skip it.

I'm sure there's more to it than that, but you've earned it. Your statement basically says that you wanted to dodge the ban, since you clearly took a long break for a reason and you come back thinking you can disregard past actions and keep doing what you do best, which is be toxic.
