However back then it was the only option for something better than Dota 1.
The top left is Dota All-Stars (Dota OG/Dota 1)
The bottom left is League at Season 1/2 (The UI of LoL has been changed more than once)
4.20 patch (Preseason 5) - https://i.imgur.com/p0LLLpI.jpg
8.13 patch (Mid Season 8, And I know that I picked Support runes for Caitlyn as I played Nami support in the previous match) - https://i.imgur.com/AHGBYsu.jpg
The top right is HoN (Based on old version)
The bottom right is Dota 2 in Beta back in 2011-2012 (Way but way before the 7.0 update that did bring a new UI)
That's the current Dota 2 (As of 7.18) - https://i.imgur.com/ggeOhad.jpg
i will discuss this part in Dota 2, since i am more proficient in that game.
This is can be a plus or a minus however, plus for diversity, yet minus due to difficulty of recognizing the different characters. An option for players to see every champion as their base model would fix the negative part for people that find difficulties in differentiating between the different skins.
i believe You should have gone a bit more in details with what You believe is wonderful. Maybe You just meant this point but did not go into details to explain Yourself. Skins are very important to almost all type of gamers, and are usually the main source of income for free-to-play games.
Honestly, comparing the League of Legends home interface to that of Dota 2, it is a laughing stock. Dota 2's is astronomically better. i believe home interface is part of user interface, but nothing is mentioned about this poor aspect in League of Legends.
Repetitive. Second point insinuates point one, i.e if in-game currency takes a lot to farm, then characters will cost a lot. It is not fair to give a -2 to a game for a single minus point. Also, i believe You should at least add the adjective "newer" to characters since old characters are cheap while newer ones are more expensive. Old characters can be earned within 2 daily wins so it is not fair to say it is hard to farm them.
i believe this is way too repetitive. points: 1 (abilities), 6 (lots of items have active abilities), 7 (hero's role diversity), 8 (denying), 10 (teamfights being unpredictable), 11 (item selection and talents, also slightly repetitive), 12 (last hitting), 19 (courier), cover pretty much every aspect of the game, and You have discussed them separately.
This is also a bit contradicting. You first recommend the hard and complex parts of Dota 2, but then say it is a negative point that it is challenging.
The addition of Arcade in Dota 2 Reborn patch is probably one of the best things about Dota 2 Reborn. One of the worst things was Inventory being at the top right of the interface, next to the exit button. When the patch was released, it was so hard to find the Inventory that at some point, for months long, i literally believed Inventory was scrapped off, and replaced with the Heroes hub, where You simply choose a hero and edit him/her/it from there, without really having access to the full Inventory.
There is something really crucial i feel You left out here, and that is dedicated servers for popular arcade games. Having dedicated servers really improves the gaming experience since user lobbies can create lagg.
Contradicting points, or unreasonable demands.
At first, You point at the Steam Market being a positive aspect, then later on point at it as a negative aspect. Is it good or bad that players can sell their items on the market?
If You are only concerned with the price, then You have unreasonable demands. Items that are easy to obtain are sold for cheap while coveted, vintage and extremely rare items will obviously be sold for much more. This is a general trait in marketing, willing to pay only 1 dollar for an extremely rare item millions of other players want is an unreasonable demand.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
i also would like to note that the Steam Community Market as well as many other features such as trading is part of Steam platform, not Dota 2. It is unfair to add features of the platform as a positive/negative to Dota 2. If You regard these features of the platform as part of the game too, then You must also discuss the positives/negatives of whole Steam platform and the other platforms such as Battle.net for Heroes of the Storm.
For example, Steam has very hard restrictions for free players. If You have not paid at least 5 dollars, then You will have huge restrictions on Your account, such as not being able to add friends or join a group, buy and/or sell items on Steam Market, and other community activities. Such restrictions are not available on other platforms, so You must add this as a negative part given You agree that some features of the platform are part of Dota 2.. You can read all about limited accounts here: Limited User Accounts
This is a bit wrongly worded. Some heroes just do not have many skins. Wisp especially only has the arcana released and acquirable only in The International 2017 Battle Pass. i heard it is not even giftable, so it should be permanently locked on accounts. Hence, there is no skin available yet for You to farm or buy.
i believe the wording should be "Some old characters/heroes have very low amount of skins."
This is a point i would like to discuss in great depths. First of all, i must ask: What do You mean with "best"? There are about three options: Best looking, highest price, or the rarest.
Starting with rarest, there are many items that are extremely rare but were not provided in lootboxes. Unusual Golden and Platinum Roshan for example, with a theoretical limit of 10 copies for each cycle. There were items that were given upon purchase of real replicas of in-game items such as Monarch Bow for purchasing a Butterfly knife that are very rare. There are about 25 copies of each, exact number is unknown. There are items such as Timebreaker that was once on the shop as an Uncommon item. A day later, it was removed from the shop due to copyright infringement, and was upgraded to immortal rarity. The skin itself also was altered significantly to not be similar to the copied item from Aion. In the end, there are lots of rare items that did not drop from chests. i am not sure what rarest item is, but it is probably a promotional item that is granted to a single person for winning a tournament or a certain achievement.
Now to the price factor. Well, it is true that rare items from chests are always more expensive than items purchased from the shop, and that is just natural. Look at TCG games such as Pokemon, promo cards from tins are usually cheaper than rare cards from booster box, although they are similar cards with light difference in artwork. Rare items from lootboxes are just harder to acquire and therefore more expensive. There are still really expensive items that were not available in chests such as Unusual Golden and Platinum Roshan that go for over 1000$ each. It is unfair to give Dota 2 a negative review due to this.
Last but not least, the visuals. Surely, Ultra Rares from lootboxes tend to look really good. But i believe people are way too deceived by prices that they forget how awesome many of the items outside of lootboxes look. Just a simple example: Arcanas. They can drop from Rylai's Blessing, but they are available on Dota 2's Shop. It will be extremely hard for You to name any item for Shadow Fiend or Terror Blade that is better than the Arcana. (Please note that Terror Blade's arcana has a random factor for the color, so it is partially a lootbox given You want a specific color.) An example of amazingly looking couriers are Unusual Greevils. You can check them on Ohmwrecker's Greevil Video. They look astonishing, with different shapes, colors and effects depending on how You 'crafted' them. The materials were mere drops in Diretide and Greeviling events. (Please note that the materials dropped in chests earned by playing Greeviling. But since a chest always dropped after every game, regardless if You won or lost, it is not considered a chest but more an ordinary drop that You can decide to reveal after the game, or collect and reveal Your drops in stacks.) There is also the famous Unusual Golden Roshan that was not in any chest either. i believe there are many other cool items, such as Rylai's taunt that was acquirable by leveling the The International 2017 Battle Pass, or the Wisp Arcana in same fashion. So there are definitely really good looking items out there for free, and since best looking is always a matter of taste, i cannot give an objective answer.
They outgrew us .. but in another article, when dota went out of beta, it was actually only 300000 players that built the community, and based on that, it gave way to bigger and better ideas, which is what we have now.
I like them both, and I hate not being able to deny my enemy's food in league - HOWEVER, there's practically only 1 invis hero in league, which makes the whole game overall, a lot more fun and competitive.
There are couple reasons of why League did end up bigger than Dota.
While the DotA mod did exist since 2004 (or was it 2003?) and League released later in 2009. It was just a mod that was quite in a bad state as the time went on (Lack of official MM, Development issues and etc) and Dota 2 was released as a full game only in 2013
Combine the release dates along with the fact that League is much accessible both in learning curve and system requirements and don't forgot the marketing from Riot to promote the game I.e things like the K/DA K-Pop song.
I haven't played it in a while because well, I had personal reasons to stop playing it and I haven't really gotten back into since. But despite that, it's a polished, fun and interactive game that deserves all the love it gets.

I tried Dota2 for a bit because I became more interested in MOBAs in general. And trust me, omg I have tried them ALL. HoN, Dawngate (rest in pieces), Paragon (rest in pepperonis), Prime World, etc. Dota2 was.. really hard for me. I gave up on it because I sucked so bad lmao. My first game, it took me 15 minutes to realize that I was the courier donkey and not my selected hero LMFAO.
Despite this, I still enjoyed learning how to play it, it was just so overwhelming to be decent at League, then transition into a similar MOBA and just absolutely suck ass at it.

I heard about Smite in high school because someone in my class had said Smite was a rip off of League because they had a monkey character named Sun Wukong who had similar abilities to League's version, Wukong. I immediately thought this person in my class was an idiot because Sun Wukong is a figure in mythology, and Wukong from League is based off of that mythology SO OBVIOUSLY.. the characters were going to be similar because both developers took information from the lore to create a character that represented the Monkey King accurately in their eyes/game.
But this is the thing I like about Smite over other MOBAs. ALL of Smite's playable characters are based off of gods and mythological creatures from many many pantheons. Each one has a kit that is supposed to be the essence of this character. I love the thought of Hi-Rez's character design team reading up about every single character for months, trying to find ways to fit a part of their lore into their abilities. To me, this shows dedication.
I grew up in Hawaii, and Hawaiians had gods and goddesses that are now embedded into the culture and history of Hawaii. Recently, they added Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes and lava! I was ecstatic. And when I played her, I felt like they did a really good job representing her character in Smite.
Gameplay is mostly fun, but sometimes frustrating. I came from League so the third person aspect was really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard to deal with. I had to rely on the information I already had based on map awareness, pings, wards, and sound. SOUND. If someone uses an ability in the jungle, you might be able to hear it just slightly, depending on the character. Most ults have unique audio and visual cues as well, so you know what you have to do to react/prepare for it. Smite's definitely made me a more alert and aware player in general because of that. But a lot of times, it's like.. if you don't have your actives up, you're dead in a teamfight and there's nothing you can do about it. :/
Also aiming everything was hard too, even auto attacks. But it felt much more rewarding than other MOBAs to adc vs adc box others and win because most times that meant my mechanical skill was higher than theirs.
Communication system is the best out of all of the games. I can literally say specific things "Enemy missing left/right/mid" or "Enemy incoming left/right/mid" in 2 seconds, effortlessly.
I'd just have to say that I enjoyed playing Smite a lot more than the others. But ya know, I have like 3000 hours in it. LOL
