Unable to establish connection to gameserver
I've been unable to play dota for the past few days because every time I find a match, it gets to "Waiting to Connect..." before kicking me out and giving me the error "Unable to establish connection to game server".

I have verified game files, I have cleared steam cache, I have re-installed Dota, I have updated all drivers on my computer, restarted, checked my anti-virus; I'm at a loss. I have had no issues up until now, played for 7-some years, over 4500 hours, never had this issue. I thought maybe it was due to a recent update, but no one else seems to be having this issue. The most recent post to this same effect was from earlier this year, and I've tried all known solutions to no success.

Please help, I'd like to play Dota again eventually :/

Bump; am I really the only person with this issue? I haven't changed anything with my computer, my network connection is good, and I can play other games just fine without fail.

Anti-virus is a good guess because updates may change the signature of the file and you may have to renew the exception settings for Dota2. The only thing I can propose is that you start a test hero session before you queue up for a public match. That preloads the game client and shortens the ready up time which may prevent you from running into the timeout.
Anyway this very general connection time out can be caused by many client machine/isp related issues in hard and software which only the admin of the client machine can solve.
Good luck with the maintenance.

I've turned my anti-virus off completely to test this theory, didn't work. I've tried starting test hero sessions and even running bot matches and the learning games to get everything to load asap, but that doesn't work either. My go-to test to see if it's working is trying to watch a game that's currently playing, rather than risk another queue ban, and I can't even do that. Same with arcade games.
