Some Trivia of monkey king
-Monkey King is based on Sun Wukong, the legendary hero from the Chinese classic Journey to the West.
-Monkey King is the first original hero made for Dota 2. All previous heroes were ported from DotA.
-Monkey King is based on early concepts developed during the DotA era.
An easter egg boss fight versus Monkey King was added to the 6.79 DotA map to hint at his upcoming release.
Monkey King's stats were revealed in the version 6.80 beta, but he was never added to the release version.
-The Banana item, which only appears in private lobbies, may have been an early hint to Monkey King's release.
-The Monkey King concept has been widely used throughout the MOBA genre, with other Monkey King heroes appearing in League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth, and SMITE.
-In the trailer, Monkey King is voiced by Matthew Mercer, who also voiced the Monkey King hero from Heroes of Newerth

To summarize the monkey king is based of a story figure named sun wukong. They work similarly to the concept of the hero zeus and can show up in many other stories or games since no one really owns rights to the concepts the heroes are based on. Plus Dota created this hero concept first by referencing his release in the original dota.

He's not based on the item, the item is based on him.

It's common sense to a China boy who grew up with sunwukong. Anyways aghims would most likely belong to rubick who is aghim son.
BTW Aghanim is dead.

CM or lich should have been shiva then xD
If I remember correctly, Vyse was initially "Guinsoo's Scythe of Vyse" and Guinsoo was one of the developers. So, by that logic, we could have sth like "IceFrog's Staff of Item Deletion" or sth...LOL...But I support your plea. Seeing more heroes whose names are linked with the legends in the items might be a good people-pleaser.

On a personal note, I guess the real demand is about adding special effects to Monkey King when he purchases his own staff. After all, he does mumble "Reunited at last" sometimes when the purchase is made. So there should be some special power to him that's sorta "returned by the reunion", right?

Except he still has his weapon. He never lost it in the first place. If anything the mkb item is a copy.
So, adding some sort of reward on MK for buying MKB doesn't sound like a good idea?

Nope. Mkb is not even good on him.
