It depends on the rest of your hardware
If you are using with a 600/700 series GPU from NVIDIA then avoid Vulkan at all costs

dx9 - 32bit.if you cant get 60 fps with this you need new hardware.

I have a 780gtx and i struggle a lot with 60fps or frame times on opengl. so dx11 or dx9?

Are you serious? minimum requirements for dota 2 is a dual core and 9600gt. Any tips to lower settings even further?

the guy is somehow right dota 2 is weirdly optimized, even a i5 can have fps issues,

stay on dx9, or gl... both work fine. Dota was designed on dx9 and it handles it better.

dx11 gives less fps but faster loading times, no more advantages on sight...

vulkan is buggy, sometimes you´ll get a CTD after the heroes vs. screen, and loading times are bad.... but when it works the fps are nice.

using nvidia i´d tell you to go to nvidia control panel, create a dota preset, and disable ambien oclussion (use the dota integrated AO, if not its additive and is badfor fps)

set the prerendered frames to 3 or 4

disable dsr factors

disable fxaa

if available use the antialisa as x8 csaa (gives performance and a good antialias)

energy settigs to max performance

Thanks for the input
Prerendered frames helped a bit with fps but stutters still sadly. AO is not available in control panel and im not using it either in the game
DX9 would be the best option out there as this one is the most stable, OpenGL is the worst API when it comes to this game (Lack of optimization) both on NVIDIA's side and AMD's side
DX11 would give you almost the same peformance as DX9 (Maybe a bit higher) but it comes at the cost of higher CPU usage

You actually need a good CPU for dota 2 to max out settings,a decent gpu will do the work
dx9 had weird issues for me, I found dx11 much more stable but I'm using an i7 and a gtx 1060

I just did some ''eye'' testing watching fps meter, since afterburner cant benchmark in vulcan, and i think im getting 10fps more with Vulcan than DX11, thats around 130fps 1080p max. Im using ryzen 1800x & R9 380, i'm pretty sure with nvidia you would be better off with dx11. I tested bot match from hero selection screen untill runes appear, doing the same exact thing with axe, and yeah, up to 10fps more fps i'd reckon with my amd rig.

dx 9 actually suck
my laptop still using geforce 610m 2gb and i3 2370m
with dx9 i only get around 60 fps or less at 720p fastest while in dx11 i got around 90 fps with same setting
I got high average fps and low cpu usage on dx 9 compare to dx11 vulkan or opengl.
i7 8700
nvidia gtx 1060 6gb
16gb ram
256gb ssd + 1tb hdd

I have an Intel Core i5-3230M CPU @2.60GHz 2.60GHZ
with 8GB Ram and a 64 bit OS

What is recommended for me in this kind of setting?

-dx9 or -dx11, both gives out same performance except -dx11 uses more CPU.
