Game not connecting after accepting match
This issue has been experienced by players since 2013 and still persists. On windows 10 my laptop can't connect to matches after accepting them resulting in a ban. On the same PC but with Linux the game connects without any issue. I tried to verify game files to no end, since the file checking doesn't go beyond 0% (just hangs doing nothing).

I've tried different connections (home router and work router) and it's hard to find that this is related to ISP since I've played the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game with no problems on the same connection and machine but on a different Operating system. I've tried forcing other apis like opengl or directx11 to see if it's related to that, also to no end.

There is no fix related to older posts from people who've had the same issues, so if anyone as any idea what's going or how to solve this, that would be swell.

The "establishing connection" is a very genaral "error message" which could be caused by many different combinations of hard- and software issues. It just tells you, that your client machine could not finish the handshaking protocol with the server within a given time limit.

The reasons for that may differ, it's not one persisting issue. Hard- and software updates, OS related or e.g. Anti-Virus software can cause some issues but also (timely) instable internet connection. Also if the system fails to load the game client fast enough can cause the mentioned time-out error.

The only active AV I got is windows defender built in on windows 10. I tried both cabled connection and wi-fi on both work and home still to no use. One the same machine and under the same conditions but with linux, none of this happens. It's getting a bit hard to detect the cause, since even Firewall rules allow dota2 to connect.

Did you try to pre-load the game client in starting a "test hero" session. This may help your slow Windows to finish the hand-shaking for the following public match in time because the game client needs not that much time to load anymore. Just one idea. To be honest, you probably have to admin your hard-/software combination by yourself.
Even other users with the same error message may not be helpful, because on their system it's probably a different cause. Btw. I never had problems with "Establishing Connection" on 2 MSI laptops and one Dell all-in-one desktop, running on Windows 7 and the high end MSI gaming laptop running under Windows 10.
Good luck!

This laptop has got Itenl Celeron N3350 (shared graphics, ain't got no dedicated GPU), but I doubt it's the hardware, since the same laptop on Linux doesn't do this with dota (opensuse, ubuntu and debian all ran dota and allowed me to play matches). And like I said, switching or forcing a graphics api like -vulkan -opengl or -dx11 doesn't do ♥♥♥♥ to the issue... But thanks anyways, I'll try that hero thing.
