Mid lane roles

I get that pushing mid and pulling creeps and ganking are midlaners jobs but is it also important for mid to stack camps for position 1?

Mid makes space for the pos1 its all about giving them time to farm, unless you're waga and force everyone to make space and stack for you.

No. Midlaners job is to get early advantage and strength peak that will allow him with supports to win teamfights whereever needed while carry is farming.
You do stack creeps but only for yourself when cannot farm spawn in time or to save Mana/time.

Stacking camps is supports job.

Dota is situational game. Mid laner could be 1 or 2 in priority, depending what you're gonna do and what hero you have picked. If you pick some alchemist for the mid lane you can't expect your carry to be 1 pos because that will be extra greedy tactic which will give you loss in general. You can stack the closest jungle spot (tinker, viper, alchemist etc) or simply go to the jungle and live there if you lost the middle or just can't be there due to difficulty or whatever. As long as it is under your control, you may do whatever you want. But be careful doing that, because most of "pubboys" are going to report you just because you left the lane at 3-5 min timer because you got counterpicked by your enemy or there's 2 supports and you're constantly dying or anything.
And don't ever follow "metas" when playing core roles. If some player bought an item in a match he did it because he has 4 professional players mates in his team that do know for what exactly he made particular item. If you don't understand why or when it is acceptable don't blindly follow. So many players pray for professional players' builds and ruin their games, just don't.
