Ex-LoL/HotS player, wanted to give DotA a try... long queues?

I wanted to give DotA a try. I hate LoL, and though I love HotS, I wanted to try something I could carry in. Queued up for an All Pick game, and I'm now still waiting in an 10 minute queue?

I was under the impression that DotA was the most-played free-to-play game on Steam, and second MOBA in player-base after LoL? HotS is supposedly "dead" and it has 20 second queues. Am I missing something here? Is All Pick not the right mode?

Everyone of thousands of people want to play carry. That's why q are long for them.

Also what do you expect to carry if you are just newbee. You will need about 100 hours just to start understand basics.

Better dont try this game and get back to LoL. You will make another thread if you try this game and people simply bash you. Better dont. Rainbow 6 Siege on sale and play that 5 v 5 game.
