Do you know that you CANNOT play at 144fps whole game without a single frame drop. Every animation consumes frames and thats why creep spawn drops fps. That is why you have 90 fps in fights. If you move your camera to a spot that there is nothing happening you will get the max framerate you chose. If creeps or heroes walk in that area the fps will drop because theres is animation movements. But the question is why 144 fps with overclocked i7 and a normal 1080Ti. I think you can play at 170-180fps and the frames will drop to 150-160 when fighting or creep spawn .I play 135 fps with my 1060 and my i5-6500 and the frame drops are just like you mentioned in your post. It is very very fine.

I know there are going to be some frame drops, im ok with that, im asking the same as you, why my rig cant handle more than 144, vsync is off, my GPU its 60 to 70% use and my CPU its 70-80% never hit 90%, I already reinstalled steam and dota.

There is a big difference from 60hz to 144hz or even 120.

People are starving, doesn't mean everyone else has to as well.

OUCH. If your monitor is 144 HZ and you cant keep 144 FPS then your monitor is worthless. A 60 HZ monitor going on 60 FPS is better than a 144 HZ monitor going on 100 FPS. To be Honest, to keep 144 HZ/FPS in most games you will need the gpus in sli or crossfire. 1 graphic card is usually not enought to keep a stable 144HZ in a lot of games. Especially when going ultra. Get another gpu and you should be ok. Expensive you say...well that is what you get when going 144HZ.

Ye, because a 1080ti obviously isn't enough for dota..

I'd use a 144hz monitor for any competetive game over a 60hz one, even if i was only getting ~100fps

Actually, for any game

I have more than 120 fps on most games, at 1444p, I think I have a CPU bottleneck, do you know what are the most CPU used settings of Dota 2 ?

To output 1080p content at 144Hz, you typically use a dual link DVI-D cable or DisplayPort cable. You can also use a HDMI 1.3 or higher cable. Running 1080p content at 144Hz can be a very demanding task. Contrary to popular belief, a standard HDMI 1.2 cable can not be used to output 144Hz 1080p content on a monitor.

and also, here is actually a link to a topic that is started by someone who wanted to have 144hz computer.

I see that the recomended GPUs there are below mine, but the CPU, they use an I5 7th gen, I have an I7 Sandy Bridge E (i7 3820 OC @4.5Ghz), Do I have a CPU bottlenecking my 1080ti?

100 fps on a 144hz monitor will look worse than 60 fps on a 60hz monitor. If you think otherwise your delusional.
