Banned until 2038 for abandoning ability draft games

I only play ability draft games haven't played dota 2 in a very long time, came back got banned until 2038. Only played ability draft and the only reasons i abandoned was because of the unfixed problems at the time creating massively op combinations by lv 2..


I have 10 abandons for ability draft haven't played ranked in many years not interested. Sad that ability draft is being taken uber seriously. I don't think 10 abandons over the course of years in ability draft is worth being banned for over 20 years. What a ♥♥♥♥ing joke. This is hilarious how serious this game is taking things. Something from a very very long time ago has now come back to bite me. Talk about extremely unjust punishments. I had no idea that ability drat was taken so seriously! Wow

Create new account, open dota 2, queue ability draft. If you don't like the match just leave. If you get ban again create another account and vice versa. Since you don't have any interest on ranked then what's the point on staying on your account? I mean if you don't take dota 2 seriously I guess the items and mmr doesn't matter anymore, so yeah problem solved.

If you want to play ability draft you can just make a new account and play.
Besides the fact that leaving matchmade games is an offense it‘s a bit strange to count very old abandons for a decision about a live long ban.

theres a case about valve banned people wrongly (found on reddit), if what you said is true and even if youre banned because of low behavior score due to abandoning (-500 i think). i think being on ability draft only abandon a strong enough argument to not get 20y ban

send mail to steam support (thats what people who wrongly get banned did, they were unbanned)

just checked his dotabuff, guy is legit casual player. ya i dont think you deserve the 20y ban as your teammate can easily leave a game on ability draft without any punishment compared to -25 at ranked

I'm gonna contact their support. I don't think i deserve the 20 year ban for some insignificant abandons stuff i did a long long time ago over a course of a very long time (those 10 abandons were spread out by months or years) especially in old ability draft. I am a straight casual player for ability draft. Sad. But it's great to hear that the system messed up and banned the wrong players. I'm gonna contact them tomorrow to have me unbanned.

Yea i don't understand those people man, they are annoying and immature. Those 10 quit games were so spread out (because i literally wouldn't play for 5-7months in between). People abandon all the time, it's a button in the game ffs. To be banned for 20 years for using it 10 times within a like 1 year is stupid. I won't lie, sometimes i queued in ability draft, and then i'd get a call from a friend or from work and i had to go. That's one of the main reasons why i only play ability draft because i'm casual and sometimes i don't have the time to play the game thoroughly, but when i abandon before the game started at least it wasn't mid way or near the end. That should be a grace period especially for a nonranked game.

I played ability draft back in the day when a lot of the abilities were broken, to make ability draft into a serious game mode without fixing all issues within the game mode is dumb. There has always been broken or nonworking abilities and you know how bad and boring it is? I gotta be forced to play that because the devs never bothered fixing it.


It has to be an error because what i did does not warrant a 20 year ban! That's extreme and the first time i've ever been perma banned (that 20 year ban is basically permabanned because no one would come back 20 years later).

I can understand banning really toxic players and stuff, but my 10 abandons over the course of a year? Come on man. I'd leave the game for many months and come back and i didn't have to play in low priority. The low priority system would be gone, and i'd get to play again. No one ever hinted or anything that this would come back to bite me when their own system allowed it. So it makes zero sense.

Lol exactly! Especially out of the thousands of games i have successfully completed. I have played this game a lot and finished the vast majority of my games. Those 10 abandons make up less than 0.0001% of games played. I have a lot commends too. The only thing on my rep are the 10 abandons. And those 10 abandons shouldn't equal 20 years ban time. And people are actually happy about that and cheering my ban on? Just makes me angry man. Thanks for being a pal. I'd enjoy drinking some cold ones with you. Cheers!

I've already went through punishment by either not playing for extremely long periods of time or playing through low priority.

How is that not hard enough? I'm just a casual player who hasn't touched rank or any other game mode except ability draft, and that game mode is not perfect. I've had my games ruined by the devs not fixing ability draft yet they treat it as the same severity as ranked?

It's really stupidly harsh. I'd rather just be suspended for 1 week for when i have to abandon. I mean why even add an abandon button. Might as well say if you use this button you risked getting perma banned. I know it's their system that did all this, but this punishment is crazy. I'm gonna have to talk to their support tomorrow to have them unban me. I'm not crazy over dota, and sorry but life sometimes happens.

When my friend was left out in the rain and needed a ride, to get home, i'm not gonna sit there at my PC thinking "I'd rather leave my friend out in the rain for 40mins-1hour than ruin a broken game mode in an unranked game mode which doesn't affect anyone"

Out of those 10 abandons, i believe 3 were my own doing because i'd sometimes minimize the game to multitask and then when i came back some abilities were randomly picked for me and i'd just leave before the game started. I tried playing single draft but it's extremely toxic and people would fight and throw the game at the tip of a hat.

When will you people understand, that you have no right to disturb nine other people by any toxic (leaving, flaming, cursing, shouting, insulting) behaviour. If you do it in any game (mode) of DotA you will get punished. It is not hard to understand. If you don't agree with valve. Select refuse under the agreement when you are installing the game, which will not allow you to install the game. Simple.

ok then explain the 9000 times when i get called the N word and none of those people who did it get punished.
