Why Inscribed items are cheaper than standard items?

Because you can get "Couriers Bought" on a midlaner's item.

REASON 1: There was a time when INSCRIBED items are NOT BETTABLE in dota2lounge. This is where the CLEAN term become popular (CLEAN is already used way back then). People pay more for CLEAN item because it can be used for betting.
REASON 2: There are items/set which can be bought on store (some from promotional) which is much more expensive than the one taken from the chest. Sets bought from dota 2 store are CLEAN while sets from chest are INSCRIBED.
