Why did Dota copy LoL?

I remember playing the 1st moba type mod called Legends of League on Warcraft 3. So why would such an inferior game try and beat the original MOBA League of Legends. Even Dota has copied many CHAMPIONS from LoL. Such as Corki, Ashe renamed to Gyrocopter and Drow Ranger. This toxic community needs to pronounce the characters as CHAMPIONS not HEROES. League of Legends will always be the superior MOBA. It now features over 120 in depth champions. Quit this trash failed copy of a game.
