i'm very very sure that very few people bother to open their task manager to see what processes are running in the background.
there are plenty of programs that runs its daily task every day in the computer background.
here are some of them
1) anti virus program and anti malware program (for this i highly recommend that you do full system scan at alternate days like monday, thursday and sunday instead of every day)
2) windows updates
3) windows defender (if it is not disabled by your anti virus program)
.....etc.
Check for viruses;
