Muted for 24 hours? What is the trigger/reason? Better Options than 24 hr mute.

Hello all I have just been muted for 24 hours because my account has been flagged as disruptive for communication. Are there any other triggers/events that allow this to happen other than someone getting salty and reporting you for comm abuse? I have won my last 3 games commended all teammates except for the person who's name was "my team sucks." This person was screaming into mic from minute 1 about a second pick axe being a terrible choice (it was not.) During that game i did nothing to flame/insult him I only mentioned that I would not commend him from yelling/crying into mic all game because it was detrimental to the team (then he told me to kill myself on mic so I muted him.) I would have used a report on him but as you guessed, with this report system, I had none.
I am honestly curious as to what triggers this event so my account is muted for 24 hours. It is not only harmful to myself in games but hurts my teammates as well. I would not wanted to be on a team with someone who cannot communicate as well I know they would not like it vice versa. I do not think this is an acceptable punishment for anyone who plays this game in ranked. I have no problem entering low p for five games, no problem being banned from ranked for 5 games, or even the finest point of this whole ordeal is that you are NOT EVEN ALERTED to it until you join your next game. I would not even play for 24 hours if I could not communicate with my teammates. I am curious as to why and how a person can have this put onto their account for not flaming/cursing/etc. I understand I will just have to live with it for now, but how can this later be changed to improve the Dota 2 community?

It's reports and unknown reading of something that give you mutes, the unknown part is crucial to prevent abuse I assume.

Don't get me wrong, but this system is really fair. I have over 3000 matches and I was never muted in this game. In the other hand I have friends who are muted every week because of their toxicity and they say the same thing you say.

It's a open community feed-back system with some room for abuse, because no review system. However it works for the vast amount of situations. Ask yourself why certain players attract reports and others don't.

I got 4 reports in one match because I didn't pick the hero my team wanted and no, I wasn't muted for that. For someone to be muted he must be REALLY toxic in a lot of matches.
I wonder how many reports Oh Boy has.

"Stop picking ♥♥♥♥ Heros Please" this is his previous username before he switch to the latest one.

weaver kills you 9 times in total.

also it is very obvious that you are a highly toxic dota 2 player due to these reasons which i suspect to be true

1) trash talker (you can get 24 hours communication ban)

2) you are very rude in the in-game chat (this will also causes you to get reported for communication abuse)

p.s the word censored is "s h i t".

p.s his original post says that he dislike another steam account username and yet he himself is one of them in the first place.

Thank you for your responses, I understand the past reasons for why I have been reported and have not complained because it has been fair. I'm extremely happy the white knight community has came to point out my past woes, as life goes on people try to better themselves. The general point of this thread was hopefully to inspire discussion as to forewarning a person they have been muted for 24 hours before they entering into the next game and become a hinderance to their teammates. The next point was to discuss something to possible implement better than a mute for 24 hours. Maybe low p for 10 games, one day account ban, etc? Also as you point out in the dota 2 match as silencer where I died to weaver 9 out of my 10 deaths. I also had 2nd most damge dealt on our team. I then sold items because I gave up hope with a combined 21 deaths 0 kills dazzle and axe, and a 5-9 CK. Everyone has bad games, especially myself that game, but it was not intentional, and it was not the point of this thread, thank you for bringing up unrelated content. Also thank you to those who gave practical and well-rounded feed back.
